How to convince a girl to just give a relationship a chance?

what is a good way or how do I convince a girl that I've been spending a lot of time with to give a relationship a chance, to just give it a try. I know sometimes people say they just aren't looking for a relationship right now, but we both care about each other and we aren't seeing anybody else, just really really busy with work and school. but its been long enough, I need to basically tell her, give it a shot and lets try, or we both are going to lose each other... so what's a good way to bring this up in a talk with her and some convincing points/arguments to convince her to give it a shot?

She might be a little gun-shy when it comes to the 'R' word. So don't go throwing around scary words like that if she's not ready to jump in with both feet. Start off with just a date. You need to break this into baby steps for her. One date isn't a long term commitment, but someday it could turn into that. As far as convincing her goes, you shouldn't have to convince her to go on one date, but if she seems hesitant, point out that it's just a date, just one evening, and if she has an awful time then she doesn't have to go out with you ever again. Chances are, if you're already spending time together, you'll have a good time on your date, but by saying this, it lets her know that she has an out if things turn south.
