I'm also very spiritual and I'm currently in separation with my person.
Not everybody has a twin flame, let's just throw that out there. Having a twin flame is an extremely rare occurrence, let's say for numbers sake, less than 5% of the population.
The purpose of having a twin flame is so that your soul can reach it's highest potential spiritually, and the whole twin flame process is a lot more taxing than it's made out to be -- it's not all rainbows and butterflies -- It can be literal hell sometimes, and it takes a lot of inner self-work before two flames can come into the last stage, which is union. The in-between periods are very emotionally draining.
Now the good: twins are literally one soul split into two. You are connected even when you're not together. When the other is depressed or down, you may actually feel that yourself, just less intense as your twin. You can also communicate with your twin in dreams and through telepathy (it's not as straight-forward as it sounds though). If you have a twin, you've probably felt it your entire life that there was something missing, like I did. I knew there was someone out there entirely for me.
One time my twin said during a pretty intense period, "I hate you... but I literally feel like I NEED you." That's exactly what it's like sometimes. You bring out the best and the worst in each other, and you need that separation period to grow and confront your demons, and then come back into union when you and your person, individually, have conquered any past traumas, hurt, regret, etc. still consuming you.
