If your boyfriend/girlfriend swears at you often would you break up with them?

I know it may sound a bit silly to ask but I know so many people who stay with people who swear at them and say such nasty things to them. It is verbal/emotional abuse which comes under domestic violence because of course it is a form of mentally torturing someone.

I wouldn't appreciate my partner swearing at me, and YES it is mental abuse, it's not fair and very rude, so YES i would be out of that relationship without a doubt.
My man never even called me "stupid" let alone other things... also because he knows i'd throw a shoe at him but other than that he would never do it.

Nah, we can't break up for anything bad that happens, I think it's unrealistic to expect a perfect partner.

If it's an everyday thing showing that they do not care about you, then sure, I'm not staying with anyone who doesn't love me.

It's only abusive if it's one way and bullying ie the swearing is to intimidate you and shut you up, typically under threat of violence.
Normally it's two way and/or dismissed, and just understood to be emotional assertiveness.

There is a difference between dating and relationships. I don’t date, I only have relationships. I’ve only had one long-term relationship lasting seven years. I would never “date around” and test people. I don’t like the idea of going on dates that don’t resukt in marriage. I have committed long-term relationships with the intention of eventually getting married. For me respect is extremely important.
