My crush messages me back but doesn’t ask many questions is it bad?

I’m talking with my crush I met in a conference. We are doing some university research. I have been liking him since last year but due to what happened worldwide I couldn’t see him for long. This past months I see him around at the university. I finally got his number from group chat and I messaged him regarding the project which actually I didn’t do it on purpose because we were in the same group I needed help. I messaged him first he replies me , 1 to 2 messages but he replies to what I say!! Problem is that he doesn’t initiate maybe that’s because he doesn’t know what’s going on that I like him? So he might think why do I have to message her and ask questions. What do I do to make this early phase friendship improve to him asking me questions?
I am not playing games with him, but I also want to take is step by step and not scare him right away saying I like you !!
He asked me to let him know if I need help with the project to meet and go over it , is this a good sign
?
Guys can give me tips how to let a guy nicely , know , that he can message me more and that he can call etc etc !!
I’m not good at dating I am an introvert I try my best but maybe I come across too stressed Too studious I am not sure..

If he's only responding to things you ask and not asking you questions I think that means one of three things - he's not interested in a relationship with you, he's very shy and afraid to initiate anything with you, or he's not good at communicating (at least electronically).

If it's the first one, there's not really anything you can do. If he's not interested, then he's not interested.

I don't think that him offering to help you with the project necessarily means that he's interested in you romantically. It might, but he might just be a helpful person. I have offered to help women with things even though I don't have any interest in dating them.

My opinion is that you should set up a meeting with him regarding the project for something you actually need help with. Near the end of that meeting, I would say that you appreciate his help and that you enjoy spending time with him and ask if he'd be interested in doing something else together. Based on his reaction to that, you will probably be able to tell whether there's any chance of a relationship with him. If he still doesn't seem interested, you should probably just give up. If he is interested, hopefully he'll start communicating more with you.
