Is it overdramatic of me to be hurt over what my boyfriend said?

my boyfriend told me he'd have preferred it if i was shorter but he still loves me , he knows im extremely insecure and deep in self hate.. esp about my height and it really hurt me when he said that, i didn't say anything to him scared he'll think im dramatic

I've opened up to him about how im tired of being above average or not 'tiny and cute' and how it makes me feel like sh*t to be this height so i jus kinda think it was really mean and thoughtless of him or im being dramatic?

So this is a twofold thing.

1. This is an area of insecurity that you need to address and understand that objectively what he said wasn't that bad.

He's ultimately saying. Usually he's into shorter girls but something was different about you and he wanted you instead when normally he wouldn't choose a taller girl. It's a positive

But this is painted by your self esteem. Because you're feeling down you took it negatively and took it far more harshly than you should have.

2. If he knew before this was something you were insecure about. Yes he probably should have known better. That doesn't mean he deserves a tongue lashing, but the letting him know how you felt was right thinking.

Longterm that's a good thing to do instead of bottling things up inside.

All in all this isn't that bad. Was it too dramatic? Yes. Should you address it with yourself? Yes. I'm curious how this topic came up between you two or if he just said it out of nowhere. Like did you ask and get an answer or did he just volunteer it?

well we were talking and i told him how im happy how he's everything i wanted in a guy then he mentioned how hed have preferred it if i was short and dw i didn't give him a tongue lashing for it or anything i brushed it off but ig yeah im a little oversensitive

Are you sure there isn't something more specific that you're not sharing? Like even with this little bit of context it doesn't make sense that he would just say that unless you ask them something or if it was sort of an implied you were waiting for him to say something
