Not getting reciprocation. Should I be upset? Am I overthinking?

First my boyfriend got sick. I checked up on him at least once a day. Now I'm sick, and... well, nothing.

We intentionally have not been to each other's places (while kids were home, I mean) because we are both single parents w children at home.

We have not met each other's kids.

Although we've been in it for several months, we mutually agree we are not ready for that.
It is worth mentioning because if I could've, I would've dropped off soup or something for him to eat.

Anyway Ff to a week later, and, again, not a phone call or text but on social media.

I have said nothing... yet.

Yeah, he could’ve at least checked up on you. I was in this position with a guy in my early 20’s, and we were in a similar position (minus the kids). I would initially brush off him not reciprocating things that I found important, like checking in if I were sick for instance — that wouldn’t happen. Then it turned into other things, like me getting him a birthday present and him not even remembering mine until the day after. Or Valentine’s Day, me making him a cute little goodie bag with a cologne, and him not getting me anything with his excuse being “every day should be Valentine’s Day for you, not just one day”, as if he even made gestures for me from the start lol. But the moral here is, if it matters to you then pay attention to the fact that he doesn’t and decide what that means for you. For me, it meant that I needed someone who matched my energy and effort, not subpar or bare minimum.

That’s not you overthinking at all... that’s just him being plain rude. You aren’t being over dramatic, overly sensitive or unreasonable in any way. You would think being in a relationship with someone, they could at least shoot through a call or text to check if you’re ok.

He should have def called or made an effort to get a hold of you. Especially with this pandemic going on.
