I have a long distance relationship with my boyfriend for about 2 years now. We live about 4 hours flight apart. It's been tough due to the distance but the good part is both of us have rather flexible working schedules and we both can take our laptops and work from anywhere. Thanks to that we have been able to travel to meet every 2 months to maintain the relationship.
About 2 weeks ago, I underwent a surgery, rather a serious one with full body anesthesia. From the diagnosis to the final confirmation of the surgery, it took about 2 months and I had kept my boyfriend posted along the way. He was aware of the fact that I was alone here without families in the city I work, and he also knew that was my first surgery and I was kind of worried. He did send me some comforting words, but that was it. He never proposed to come. Not even a gesture. If he did propose, I would have probably said that it was not worth his trip, but the fact that he never proposed bothers me.
So I finally went to the hospital with a help of a close friend, he just texted me to ask if all was ok. No flowers, no asking for details how that went. I told him that I had not listened to the doctor and ate too much which caused me gas pains in the stomach, and he just insensitively joked on that.
I stayed home for 2 weeks post-surgery with bandages, and still no flowers, gifts, nothing. He kept texting but it was as if I did not have a serious surgery. Today all of a sudden, he started to plan our next meet. I was so disappointed and pissed, he could not find a time slot to fly over to see me but now he is thinking of a trip when I was barely recovered?
