Do you have that one ex-lover you'll never forget?

Katie. I could write a novel about this girl. She was an ex-stripper, really long chestnut brown hair, with absolutely no filter between her brain and her mouth.

One time I took her to get a manicure, after a spring rain. As we were walking to the car, there was a couple holding each other, all giddy, taking selfies with a rainbow behind them. She just looks over and says "It's just a rainbow, you dumb m**her f**kers."

She hated happy go-lucky people and fake-acting people with a passion. She was even really mean to fake people at Starbucks and Pizza Hut and places like that because of how fake-acting they were. The way she treated people was actually refreshing because it was real. She was never not herself and just couldn't understand the disingenuous.

I took her home that day and was about to do the usual, and she says "If you mess up my manicure I will beat the sh*t out of you." It was so good for some reason, with her fingernails in the air by her side and me being careful not to mess up her expensive manicure.

She literally haunts me to do this day (she died outside of a club after the cops showed up and she swallowed a bag of drugs). She reminds me that life is too precious to be anything but real about your feelings and to be true to yourself.
