Is it wrong to ask for money if my fiance drives my car?

So my fiance has been driving my car for a long and I asked him could he pay my insurance since he's driving it, it's $280 he's paid for other things like $400 or more but he got all mad about it and wanted to argue and that's the least he could do since I'm letting him use my car to drive everywhere else.

Your insurance only covers you and occasional drivers. If your insurance company discovers he's been driving your car on a regular basis, they may deny claims. If he carries insurance on another vehicle, that insurance may cover any damage caused by him.

Is he driving your car for his convenience or for your convenience? If it's for his convenience, ask him what he believes would be fair. He probably won't be receptive to demands. You'd be paying for the insurance whether he was driving or not, and it's not covering him, so that wouldn't be his bill to pay. He is putting wear and tear on the vehicle that wouldn't be there if he wasn't driving it, so how does he plan on compensating you for that wear and tear?

You're taking on a liability by letting him drive your car. If he gets into an accident, you, as the owner, will be sued. If he's not willing to take your feelings into consideration, I'd question the relationship.

Yes but he didn't understand that about the insurance. So yes especially if he's my supposed fiance at least he can do is help.

Ideally, this would come as an offer from him, not a demand from you. You don't want to start a marriage with patterns of demands, criticism and yelling. That's a quick way to doom a marriage.

Let him know that since he is driving the car it is legal but not only a good idea to add him to the insurance policy and he should cover the insurance as well. That way you are able to save your money god forbid u have to get a new car if he totals it. Don’t let anyone drive your car honestly. It’s not worth it.
