My boyfriend and I only hang out one day a week for four hours. I feel like I am the greediest person in the world for wanting more, but we’re both out of school for the summer. Of course we work, but he works four days a week and I work three. During the school year we seemed to have spent more time with each other and we lived two hours away from each other.

It hurts me a lot because he says he doesn’t have the time. When you care about someone, you make time. I make time for him all the time. I’m moving back to the city my college is in a bit earlier than usual, so I’m trying to spend as much time with friends and family and work, but I still find time for him because I love him. He just doesn’t do the same for me. He always says I hurt him and don’t care about how he feels, but what about how I feel. He’s nineteen and Im twenty-one. We’re both at an immature age, but a relationship shouldn’t be this rocky.

“When you care about someone, you make time. I make time for him all the time.”That line should be all the motivation you need to do what needs to be done. I used to have that frame of mind too, yet for some reason I couldn’t truly believe that a guy would reciprocate my efforts, and got used to settling for the bare minimum. If it weren’t for my current relationship I wouldn’t be able to tell you in a genuine way that if he wanted to, he would. But with the hoops my current boyfriend jumps through to prioritize time with me despite his crazy schedule, I know for a fact that men will make time for you if it’s important enough. So my advice to you is don’t settle. He already knows how you feel and yet actively makes the choice to disappoint you time after time. You’re better than that, and no matter how much you love a guy, you have to love yourself first. Wait for someone who puts in the same energy as you and not make excuses to be lazy.
