I’ve been really depressed lately and I’m finding it hard to talk to my boyfriend about what’s bothering me… I tend to just shrink away…I’ve been having breakdowns in the middle of the night making it hard to sleep and when I’m with him I feel like I have to distance myself emotionally otherwise I’ll hurt him (he’s very emotional when it comes to my well-being and if I’m upset he picks up on it) because I can’t explain why I feel that way.

Uhm honestly If I can't open up to someone, I take it as a sign that I shouldn't lol but cause I know that i can open up, I don't know how it's with you
Anyways I would say really slowly and maybe writing it down first, for yourself and getting an overview of what you wanna say.
In the end tho you shouldn't make it your partners problem, sure share with him if you feel comfortable but in the end I would more recommend a therapist, someone professional
