Why won’t my partner call me babe? Or any other pet name?

I’ve been on and off with my partner for around 5 years. At the start we used to call each other babe but now he doesn’t he just calls me by my first name. I’ve brought it up a couple times saying “stop calling me (*my name*) I feel like a stranger. Call me babe or something”. He will maybe once but then go back to calling me by my first name. Why?

I had a similar situation with my ex. I initially called her babe, love and all but we had some issues and broke up and started the relationship again. I started to call her "sugar mama". She didn't like it but I enjoyed teasing her with it. For me, it was nothing serious and that deep down, I knew she was meant for someone more serious than me.

Maybe because he ain't so much in pet names anymore. And with how things are going, his love for you is unknown. Not saying its dwindling but ain't what it used to be
