Soo I have a girl bestie been knowing each other since high school and dropped out the same time both 18 at the time.. so I’m not goin to make this story to long but hopefully you’ll get the picture sooo at the timeee my Fran wanted to have a baby at a young age (18) I use to try to speak sense into her all the time I was always blunt with her rather she liked it or not I use to tell her about the guy she was seeing but she wouldn’t listen at all so she did end up gettin pregnant and at the time he was cheating on her, he was very controlling and had other bad traits about him I didn’t like Soo we both 22 now andd now she’s seeing she wants a divorce but haven’t made a move yet but she’s tired of his shit he dosent clean, work or provide at all (well every once in a while ) but he’s not shit at all I still tell her til this day u "U NEED TO LISTEN” I wouldn’t had been a good Fran if I didn’t tell her these things (and she had other frans but they stopped talkin to her because of him I’m the only realist Fran she has) but yea he always threading people he had times where he actually threatened me cuz he’ll be lookin for her (I sum how always get caught up in there marriage) and (both are cheatin) everytime she leaves the house she out doin her because if his shit so her daughter is a baby she can walk and everything but it seems like her husband is tryin to turn her daughter against her as (he once told her if they broke up he wants his daughter) I feel like he tells his daughter to do things to her knowin it bad ex:hell be like go hit mommy, throw this at mommy
like as if he manipulating her through her so wen she get older she’ll do what he says all the time (and it seems like her daughter dosent listen to her either) I feel the older she gets it’s goin to get worse 💔what do y’all think? The problem here is you're talking at your friend, not with your friend. When we talk at people, we come across as the critical parent telling the other what should or shouldn't be done. This only leads them to respond as the rebellious child. If you truly want to help anyone, facilitate their exploration and discovery rather than implying they're too stupid to think for themselves. Ask them to describe what they are experiencing and how that is impacting them now and may impact them in the future. Show your friend you believe in her ability to see what's happening, identify options she can choose, become aware of the pros and cons of each option, and then choose the option that makes most sense to her. If you criticize her choices (rather than help her see deeper into her own situation), you'll just find her being more resistant to change and less likely to take your feelings into consideration.
