Do you think not getting what you want might make you happier?

Like my cousins husband got the smart and pretty wife he wanted but she has anger issues and control issues and it’s because she is gorgeous and has a lot of pride and desire for honour and service from people.

A girl said she dated an unattractive guy that was neither good looking nor successful and it was the happiest relationship she had ever been in, for two years, she would not give that guy a chance cause she wanted a guy with status but when they got together she was blown away at how happy she was.

I know somebody who tried to get a husband by making herself attractive and she ended up with a guy that abused her because he did not love her, he just married her for her looks and her money and her house keeping skills.

I know a physically unattractive woman who married somebody also physically unattractive and he treats her like a queen even though she can’t work due to health issues. She has designer bags worth tons of money and she sometimes has 20 parties a month cause they are very well liked people.

I actually think to some degree yes because it will give you hope for the future. If you have everything you've set out to achieve then there is no purpose to achieve more. In Donald Trumps words, to retire is to expire and I think it applies. Its like working. When you work it gives you direction towards retirement. When you retire its like there would be lack of direction and you expire faster from a lack of purpose.

I have spent a lifetime not getting what I want, and I am the happiest person on the planet. Happiness comes from within, any happiness from external sources is fleeting. The reality is that people should always be happy with what they got, and should be happy with who they are… I am not saying you shouldn’t strive to better yourself, you should. But don’t look to other people or objects to make you happy.

Yes in some cases yes not getting what you want can benefit you greatly, but there are times when it can do the exact opposite.
