Everybody is 'young' once. Did you, or are you taking advantage of, or benefiting from being young?

We all know that LIFE is not fair and there is no level playing field in life for anyone. Some have an advantage at the very start, they are smarter, prettier, more handsome, have a wealthy family etc etc. We all know that, and it makes life easier or tougher for those that were born under some REAL or IMAGINED unfair circumstance.

With that said, have you made, or are you making the BEST that you can with what you were born with? How, why or why not?

I ask that, because I did not maximize my opportunities as a very young person. (20-25) and had to play 'catch-up' later in my life.

I sure did.

One thing that benefited me a lot was learning how to play guitar. Being lead guitar and vocals in rock bands when I was in high school made me popular.

I got my drivers license and first car as soon as I turned 16. From then on, I lived the most happy, full life. I explored all around California and beyond with my friends, surfed, snow skied, rode horses, camped, backpacked, went to concerts, partied like a Viking, and had amazing experiences.
I got my first girlfriend when I was 16, too.
After high school, I attended Community College part time and usually had a job.

When I was 26, I got handed a job to train as a motor vehicle damage field adjuster/appraiser with an auto insurance company. I didn't even have an AA degree yet. It changed my life.
I had to cut my long hair and wear a suit.
The job was really hard for about five years before I figured out the system.
In the process, I also learned how to act like an adult.

It was because of my youth, energy, work ethic and tenacity that I saw it through. It turned into a fantastic career.

I met some great people and had some wonderful experiences in my 30s. One friend made the original movie Gone in Sixty Seconds. Another friend gave me a crazy ride in his 1960s-era military jet.

I had other girlfriends and met the best one ever when I was 36. We lived together for over a year that was a highlight of my life. And that's saying something.

I saved a lot of money in my 401(k), eventually got married and bought a house. After 30 years, I retired with a pension.

That's what I'm talking about... You did things in a big way and often. You took advantage of opportunities presented and made a success of them. Good for you!!!

I could do better. My mom jokes I live like a 60 year old. She thinks I should be more brave about relationships.
