Just tell him you don't want a relationship, but you just want to date and take what comes naturally. That you don't really want a boyfriend, but a guy you can hang out with and have a relationship with but not official in anyway.
Lets be honest these days I just tell woman I want someone I can basically get together with once or twice a month and just take it from there. But sex is always on the table... once she says I just want to be freinds... I am gone. No sex no friendship for me.
Yeah, yeah... tell me how you feel that is wrong. Well, if I am your freind and I do all the things that a boyfriend should do for you, without sex... well then you are not giving me what I am looking for, while you are getting what you want from me, and I am going to find someone that does do the things I would want a woman to do for me. Because that is the person I want to date and really be with. I don't need another freinds I have those already.
And honestly what you are really saying to this guy, is that I like you, I want to hang out with you... but I do not want to date you. Which means you playing the feild or keeping the door open for someone else even if you are actively looking. The point is that you are saying he is not the one you are looking for, but he is the one you want to spend time with for now. Which as long as the guy is getting what he wants out of that situation is all fine and good. He is wanting something more than just a freind, so work into a friends with benefits situation.
It sounds like you two are not in alignment. Leave him alone. He wants what you do not. Find someone who wants a casual relationship and few strings. It's not this guy.
There's someone out there for you. Just not him.
Don't lead him on
