How much do you value intelligence and intellectual curiosity in a partner?

Kind of important, but not in my top five attributes I look for

who cares about intellectual curiousity?

They don’t need to be book-smart.


But, I do want them to be emotionally intelligent and have great self-awareness.


They need to have the intelligence needed to work through issues together that may arise in our relationship.


Being able to self-reflect to understand themselves, understand me, understand our relationship, and know how to nurture and strengthen our bond.

what about intellectual curiosity? Say you take a vacation to Belize. Does she want to sit on the beach all day, or does she want to explore Mayan ruins and the local culture as well? Does she like to learn new things?

@OtterMan68 The emotional intelligence would be more essential.

As for intellectual curiosity, that would be less of a priority but it would be enjoyable to have in a partner.

I’d want her to have an open mind and willing to try new things with me — go to new places — see new things — have new experiences together.

Being open-minded and adventurous has a lot of overlap with intellectual curiosity I’d say. 🙂

I like to have intellectual conversations from time to time but it's not a deal breaker or anything but it's nice to be able to have conversations like that, that stimulate the mind from time to time with your partner.

Intelligence is key
