If both waited till marriage (both were virgins), why is it only special for the woman but not the guy?

In my family, this has happened before. For instance with my paternal great-grandparents, they started as childhood playmates and got married young. Both were virgins on the wedding. Yet, my great-grandma received all the attention and it was celebrated as her day. Why just her day? What too much focus on the virgin bride and not on the virgin groom?

I'm sure for him, it was just a special day, moment like her too. All the credit shouldn't go to her. It wasn't just her day but his too. I'm sure that type of relationship (rarely nowadays) is one of a kind.
