They have to be in a certain spot exactly 💯 percent at the correct angle. Spouse said it's hard for her to get them in the am when she is in a hurry where I want them.
She left like a coward when I started screaming and sat in the car.

So here is what I know. I too own shoes, and there isn’t a designated spot for them. They can end up anywhere. In fact one can be in one room and the other in a totally different room.
