Without sexual tension ruining their friendships? Why or why not?
1 yMaybe? What is the common interest is my first question with an eyebrow raised. I'm basically friends with my 2 sisters and that's because we all hate my Mom... who is a bitch by the way. But we're talking about random men and women being friends... not siblings that went through hell together.
What is the common interest that bonds them? If there is none, then I'm going to assume the only reason they started talking at all is the exchange of hopes for sex and the overvalue of attention. I'll let you discern what the male side usually is after and what the female side is usually after. The bottom line is... that is not a fucking friendship.
Men and women usually have vastly different interests. It is possible though, but I've found it fleeting. It moves on and doesn't remain unless there is that sexual/attention exchange going on. Usually, it gets physical eventually and then you can really say it was never just a friendship in a platonic manner at all can't we? If it doesn't go full physical, one party eventually tries to make it happen and that's when everyone involved realizes... true platonic friends don't have that involved.

I hope the meme makes what I'm trying to say loud and clear. Women... if you have some dude hanging around for no reason and he just says he enjoys being around you, and you allow this simply because you like attention... you know what you're doing. You're using him for attention. If you offered to suck his dick because you need practice at it, he'd rip his pants down faster than fuck boy. He's not really your friend... he's a simp.

1 yYes, men and women can stay friends. The guy may be wondering what she's like in bed, but won't do anything about it..

1 yNot sure.. I had lots of guy friends growing up all through school but we kind of went our separate ways, once we got in serious relationships.. like sure we are still friends on FB and check in here or there but like I haven't seen the majority of them in years.
I had one guy stay my friend tho more of an acquaintance all these years since I was 15 and he was 16 (mostly due to the fact he is my BIL's best friend) and I seen him every time I came back to town. We would hangout and we would get high together once in awhile but that was only cuz he never stays in a serious relationship longer than like a month or two.. and I kind of think he has a thing for me.. but I wouldn't touch him because he is a huge whore and he wouldn't touch me because my sister and her husband told him to stay away from me. So we can remain "friends" lol.30 Reply
the answer is yes but i don’t think they can be “close” friends cause if two person knows each other very well they end up with romanticism

1 yof course, they can... friendship is a state of mind... so if you see your friend as a friend... and think about them as a friend... there is no way you will feel differently... of course... it's easier to have feelings for someone you already know and you are close to... but it's just laziness... :D
it's 40 years already for me and my best male friend...30 ReplyI have a male friend and it goes well for right now. Before that I had many male friends that never crossed the border. If a male friend of you texts you day and night it probably will turn into a mess soon. Mine were not like that, we didn't use to talk for days sometimes and it was all good.

1 yMaybe some can, but I have never been able to have a "friendship" with a female that didn't try to go further.
Why or why not for some and not others? Maybe some guys have weak sex drives and/or are not desirable to women as boyfriend material.
10 Reply 10.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. 90% of my friends are male and always have been. For all of my teenage years I only had one female friend, everyone else was a guy. Not much has changed.

1 yNope.
If the person is a member of an LGBTQ or if he/she is a child then they can have a long lasting friendship with women.
But a straight man is built differently. We have to respect boundaries of women. It's difficult because our lifestyles opposes to one another.10 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yYes. I'm that way with EVERY woman I know. I would say this has no been a problem with the great majority of then.
All it takes is both parties remembering they're friends and friends ONLY. It's been my experience that this only really fails when someone forgets this and wants a little more out of the friendship.

1 ySure. But not all men and women can do that. Really depends on the dynamic between the two people and whether one likes the other one (or even better, they both like each other).

1 yNo. Men are generally not friends with women they wouldn't sleep with. Even if they genuinely like you and look at you more like a sister over time, the sexual tension with us is always present.

1 yMale friends tend to develop sexual / emotional bond as you spend time together so you always have to draw boundaries and make them feel it

Anonymous(18-24)1 yI used to have guy friends. Mostly nice guys but it always came down to them wanting sex or a relationship. Some were pretty hurt when rejected, others went psycho. I'm friendly with guys now buy no guy friends except for my husband.

1 yThe reason some guys make friends with are a girl is first they were attracted to them but didn't know how so they use the friends root and made peace with it as the girl doesn't feel that way for them

10 ReplyI would say they can, but the caviat being that both people be open and honest. If one of them enters the friendship with an attraction to the other and drags their feet telling the other person, that's where things can go wrong.
