I’m sick, and he’s mad. Should I be upset?

Hi. I have an autoimmune condition that makes me vehemently sick, roughly around once every 2-3 weeks. It’s like having the stomach flu/food poisoning if you’ve ever had it. Anyways, my boyfriend knows about this and how often and inconsistently they happen. Anyways, today I’m having a really rough day. I got sick on the way to work this morning, and had to go home, shower and change. Got to work, it’s been 2 hours, and I’ve ready spent most of my time in the bathroom.
Anyway my boyfriend knew how sick I was throughout the night, and has yet to check in with me or ask if I’m ok. We talked this morning about what his schedule is today, and I asked how he’s doing, but hasn’t reciprocated. He seems more distant/short. I’m supposed to come over for dinner tonight, but he knows that with how I’m feeling I may not come. Does he have grounds to be angry with me about this?

Having a chronic debilitating condition can be a weight on relationships. In early days, nothing is too much for your new lover and everything is perfect. Stomach stuff is extra difficult since its about the most unpleasant way to be ill that there is. Ifthis happens and requires special consideration as often as every three weeks, I'm guessibg that the difficulty of that was underestimated in the beginning of the relationship. The impact this has on the other paerty n a relationship depends on many things from the severity of the illness to the patience of partner. If he is naturally impatient this will seem to become a bigger deal as time goes on unless he can make the emotional changes necessary. It's a difficult thing to ask but it's probably better to revisit whatever decisions made early in the relationship vis a vis your illness. If nothing else, you bringing it up sooner rather than later will probably save long term suffering. I'm assuming that you are self sufficient on your own despite illness.
