Do you think real intimacy is something everyone fears?

I don't think they fear it I think they either don't understand it or they really want it and seek it but fear rejection of getting it from someone. They feel like they're putting their soft side on the line and would be crushed if it wasn't given so acting as if they don't care or don't need it puts a safe wall around their ego and heart. And other must perceive that as a fear of it itself.

No not everyone, but unfortunately a lot of people, especially in this generation and culture, have been conditioned to view vulnerability or showing any kind of emotion, as a weakness. Which is incredibly sad, as emotions are a vital part of the human experience and we can learn a lot from them

Only if it's hard to accommodate and juggle - life gets more complex through the advancing of years even as a strong couple

No. I think trusting someone who later proves untrustworthy is the primary fear in relationships.

Intimacy isn't only about being physical. To crave a person's presence and energy rather than just their body is the purest form of intimacy. Nothing about that is to be feared.

No not the ones that are secured and used to that from their past and within themselves. They give it. They need it right back.
