Do men still want marriage and family as much as they did in the past?

I was having a discussion with one of my guy friends in person, that argued that men want relationships, just like women. It was a similar conversation to what I read on here between two other people who I don't know.

Well a US report State Of Our Unions pretty clearly shows that both guys and girls would like that. Conceptually.

However it is also pretty well known that 70-80% of those happy brides in the park wedding pics, initiate divorce at 8 years because the are unhappy with their marriage.

So whilst we might like the idea of marriage, it is a foolish man that does go through with it.

Less well known is that even if you don't marry and just cohabit, your exiting cohabiting girlfriend can still take you to court as though you had married her in a lot of countries.

If you have a house and she has cohabited for five years then she could touch you up for half the market price increase of your house. Half of any of your assets - like super - that increased in that 5 years.

So not only can't we afford to marry you, we can't afford to live with and share our house with you.

I think people want relationships and family as much as they used to. But marriage not tho. Cause there's huge cost and no benefit associated.

Men absolutely still want marriage and family, but the timing and conditions changed. Many guys are more cautious now: afraid of divorce, being used, or losing freedom. They still crave love, emotional safety, genuine partnership, and feeling respected. When a man trusts he won’t get manipulated, lovebombed, or ghosted, his “I don’t do relationships” act usually melts fast.

Men who don't want relationships are quite vocal in expressing their butthurt feelings on the subject, while guys who do want relationships quietly go about their lives. So you can't judge what guys want on the basis of what you hear.

Yes, maybe more. Modern women are the prohibitive factor. If so many men weren’t being completely destroyed in divorce and family courts, more men would be actively seeking marriage and families.

Very sadly this seems to be becoming somewhat a trend. I'm 33 have been with my husband for thirteen years (married for the past eight of those years)
