Got into a fight with my FWB...

We have been in this odd friends with benefits relationship on and off for 3 years now but recently (after too many drinks) I told him to stop treating me like a booty call because I felt used and not into it anymore. He told me I was overreacting and he was confused.

I apologized for overreacting but I told him I meant what I said but he doesn't seem to care at all. He just said "it's fine" and "I know". Should I just give up on him? Maybe he'll come around?

God, I hate this site sometimes, I just typed you a really long and informative message and when it made me sign in I lost it.

In very simple terms learn this:

1. Men won't buy the cow if they can get the milk for free. Good men secretly want a woman with standards. Guys who do FWB for 3 years probably aren't good boyfriend material anyway.

2. You did this to yourself. If you knew the terms and conditions coming into it, and he didn't lead you on thinking it would be more, you kinda did this to yourself. You need to come to terms with that, and vow never to sell yourself short now.

3. It's going to be a question of self-discipline now. Can you find yourself worthy enough to break away from this guy and go for what you want, despite the fact that you've slept with him many times?

Think of it as a hotel contract. You are a beautiful 5-star hotel, and you let him stay in it (no pun intended) for free. You thought if you enticed him in with freebies, he would end up being a paying customer. But anybody who had such a contract, and then was asked to pay, would usually decline.

If you had marketed yourself as a 5 star hotel in the first place; named your (expensive) price; and aimed for a better market with more money (love) to spend... you would be in a much better situation.

Just chalk it up to experience hon.

This is why I know a FWB arrangement wouldn't work with me. I know I'd get attached to my partner, so I keep my sexual escapades for girl that I'm actually dating.
