Ladies, are your guys doing this? Would you notice either way?
Fellas, when you are walking alongside a road with a woman, do you put yourself between her and the traffic?

Can I say… I loved learning about this from my one OCD friend who would always very dramatically do this if we were walking back from school together. His dad had taught him to do it and when his mom became a widow he would walk between her and the curb (age 10 badass gentleman). It was the coolest thing I’d ever seen at that age. (Those of you who don’t know, Moms usually take the protective stance when walking with their kids to protect them from traffic/danger, but this kid one day just sensed his mom needed protecting and started doing that.)
As we got older and walked to college he’s so the same with me or with other girls walking to and from the school, around the campus, etc. Having grown up together I always knew why he did it and still think it’s one of the sweetest silent gestures a guy can do for a girl he cares about (either as a friend or an SO).
My boyfriend used to do this. I made it clear to him that I hate it and he has stopped. Chivalry is dead, women don’t need you to take care of them
There is a difference between what we need and what we want.
And I don’t want him to embarrass himself with useless and demeaning chivalry
Yeah, I try to keep the old school stuff alive. Just what I was taught was right to do. Not to a ridiculous degree or anything, laying my coat across a puddle, lmao, I’ll piggy-back her or something😂 But I do walk streetside on the sidewalk when I’m with a lady, especially if it’s been raining and there are puddles that could get splashed by a passing car. I feel like it probably doesn’t even get noticed, but it’s all good, haha.
Yeah it's a natural reflex.. kinda like when you're walking with a woman you're usually walking behind her to keep an eye for everything ( the same thing you do with kids )... you're right, guys nowadays are so 💅 lol.. I see guys walking fast and their girlfriend is way behind them or they actually make her carry most of the bags..
The bags are usually full of her stuff. Why shouldn’t she carry them? Ell oh ell!

Most of the time, yes, I do that. I know it's an old custom, done to protect the woman from getting splashed by passing carriages, but I still do it.
My old-fashioned chivalrous gentleman of a husband does this, among many others.
My dad & brothers are old-fashioned chivalrous gentlemen, as well.
I find that that thoughtful.
It's admirable.
Whatever works in Manhattan. Sometimes running back, sometimes wide receiver...
I must admit that i don’t really understand the reference. I don’t follow football and don’t really know the difference between those two positions. 🤷🏼♂️
Sometimes bartell ahead, sometimes graceful ballerina
Yes, it is the gentlemanly thing to do to shield her from the unplesantness that may arise from the passage of traffic.
Do you think women haven’t walked on the street before or something?
@CrabCakes11 I'm sure sometimes women have to walk on streets without men, but that doesn't mean that they should have to experience the same thing they had then.
Why?
@CrabCakes11 That doesn't mean that because previous bad things shouldn't require more bad things.
Walking on the street is not a negative experience
Sure, if one of us has to die it might as well be me.
Hahaha!
Hell no I don’t perpetuate female privilege. I seek to end it
Female privilege is being patronized by men?
Female privilege in this case is the man acting chivalrous. Putting himself in situations where he is below her only builds upon her entitlement complex. She would never do the same for him. It’s self inflicted slavery
Chivalry isn’t privilege. The man isn’t placing himself below the woman. He’s subtly reminding her that he is superior to her and that he is more capable. Do you think a parent is putting themselves “below” their child by giving them a bath or tying their shoes?
Alright the next time I’m with a woman and she’s walking by the road I’ll be sure to shove her into the next oncoming car
lol what? There’s a third option that isn’t harming someone and isn’t being a patronizing dick. It’s called being normal. You should try it sometime
Why should I be “normal” to a woman? Does “normal” mean slave? I hate women
What are you talking about? Obviously somethings wrong with you. Please get help
What could possibly be wrong with me that makes you so upset?
That is what real gentleman of character do.
That’s quite the opposite of that men of character do
What wold be the point of that? It's not like you're going to stop a two ton vehicle driving at 55 mph. If you see it coming your way the first thing you're going to do is run and dive out of the way if you're not suicidal. All standing between a woman and the road would do is blind her view to the oncoming car being that men are taller and larger than women. I can see over women from my vantage point. They can't see over me...
Hahaha!
Nope, i only do that for ladies not modern women and never feminists
I've never even seen that before, and I frankly don't want that
That’s difficult to believe. Chances are you just never noticed.
There’s a difference between not seeing something and seeing it but not registering it to memory.
No, I do not. My life is as valuable as hers.
No, I don't do that.
I do this
Giant splash puddle by oncoming passing car 🚘 lol 🌊💦
@itsclearlynicholas I'll get splashed by an oncoming car for her any day lol
When i was running outside a lot, i frequently ran along rural roads. I’ve been hit with some whoppers all by myself. Once, i saw the semi coming, but the driver couldn’t move over due to oncoming traffic and i couldn’t get far enough away fast enough. The “splash” hit more like a tidal wave! Ell oh ell! I actually felt greasy from road grime for the remainder of my run too.
🍔 a burger to the face even? 😧 Lol wink 😂😉 hungry for one? 😋😋
I try to do it.
Hail naw 😁🤣😅
If my girl then yes.
