Why won't my boyfriend move out of his parents house?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years. We have had our own house once before. Currently we are living with his dad and step mom. They are moving out of there home, there for we have to move also. I already have a apartment lined up for me and my boyfriend but he will not go with me because there isn't enough room for his parents. Why? He has a good job and the rent is cheap. I told him that he was eventually going to have to chose me or his dad. Was that wrong? Someone please help me...

Maybe he can't break away from his dad. I'm sure his step mum is more than hppy for the both of you to find your own place. And his dad wants his own place with his wife. Maybe that's why they are moving, giving your boyfriend the biggest hint to get his own place. I'm not sure what you can do, but depending on your relationship with his dad, why don't you talk with the dad?

His dad loves me..i thought about talking to him. I just don't know if it is worth it anymore. I have been trying to get him to move out and get a place for just me and him for years. He won't do it.

And it sounds as if you already know what you want, no parents living with you...DON'T BLAME YOU! When you told him he had to chose you or his father what was his response?

Well..he said that I was retarded for putting him in that position. Called me every name in the book, said whatever then rolled over and went to sleep.

Does he have any siblings? My husband helps my in-law out with many of things. We lived with them at one time and had one daughter at the time. When I became pregnant again I told him if we did not have our own home before the next child came I would go and live with my dad. This was like 16 years ago! But the next month we had bought a trailer we are still in. Hopefully the next 2 years we will be looking for a house! But I hope all goes well with your situation!

no there is no reason they can't take care of themselfs..they have 2 kids under 18. And my boyfriend is 29 and I am 24. I just don't know if it is worth being with him anymore. I am so confused.

limited info but a guy that age should want to be out on his own. with or without you involved. I would think girls would want to see a guy with some sense of independence. maybe I am wrong. But it seems like you see a problem here. and what does your gut tell you/

Honestly, my gut tells me that he is never going to grow up and be on his own. In his mind he has it made. A free home, free food, a woman when he wants..what else could he want! I don't know..I am seriously thinking about ending it with him. Thanks for the advice!

I think you have made your own mind up and you are correct. even if you are not. why risk anymore valuable relationship time. good luck.
