Thousands or even millions of people pray every day and nothing happens, so yes, it's just coincidence.
The story could be made up. But it shows that God is someone to think and talk about - even for agnostics and atheists.
For every time a man prays and wins the lottery, how many more are you not hearing that failed? You only hear about the extraordinary stuff, but not really the ordinary.

A million dollars? What kind of a jackpot is that? God is such a cheapskate.
If you actually read the article that's what he exactly asked for. God gave him exactly what he asked for.
I'm not able to read the article for some reason. It makes no sense to me that an Atheist would pray for money.

I think it's just a coincidence. A lot of things happen that are pretty unbelievable.

Nobody knows how the world started. All we know is that we're here and living and wonder why.
The thing is that even if some God created the Universe, we still know nothing about God. We don't know that prayer works (no evidence), that religious practice leads to a more prosperous life (wealthier people are less religious), or that there is an afterlife (no evidence).

And prayer works, God just doesn't listen to the prayers of sinners nor is He obligated too.
And there's plenty of evidence of the Bible being God's word.

I don't believe the Bible is the word of God. It came from the minds of men. I don't believe anyone has a special relationship with God, although I believe that many people think that they do.
