What are your thoughs?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1391666/The-Lord-Provideth-Woman-wins-1-million-Lotto-jackpot-atheist-son-prays-prize.html
Of course he does, have you not spoke with him before and heard his voice? He is very much a fun loving and caring God. Even though the word is clear that he doesn't, it doesn't mean he can't choice what he desires to do. Do I believe God wants people to hit the lottery? No. Because lottery is gambling and its witchcraft. Therefore it is not of him. Many people sadly fail to realize that just because somebody says 'Jesus/God', they may NOT be talking about the same Jesus and the Lord that is acuately discripted in the Bible. God doesn't bless everybody in wickness. If it's done in wickness it is from the devil. Mind you, I am in no way saying those who win the lottery or play are wicked. My family plays the lotto. But I personally stopped after finding out after living in ignorance of it, that it is a sin. But. It is still Not of the true living Lord. Our riches should be stored up in heaven, not on earth.
Do you have any idea how many millions of people pray to win the lottery?
99% of the time, the ones who pray to win the lottery don’t actually win it. But as usual, they just pretend it didn’t happen or make up an excuse.
But the one time a person wins the lottery and gets their prayers answered, this suddenly becomes a miracle of god. I mean, seriously?
Your reply sums up every christian i have ever spoken to.
I think that God should be more focused on giving resources to the millions of people starving to death rather than giving excess resources to people who are relatively well-off.
Also it's fairly likely that the family made it up for publicity
I can't verify if the story is true or not, most of the sites I found it from were christian news sites so I don't know if it was a joke or a hypothetical or something like that that ended up running amok. That said, with the billion plus people praying to the christian god, and probably tens of millions for something like a lottery win it's very probable that eventually one would happen. Furthermore, if you say this is an act of god, I don't know how you can say that the 21 children dying every minute isn't also an act of god. You don't get to just pick and choose.
Millions of people praying for lotto win, lotteries take place what like once a week, twice? Rule of big numbers, these kind of coincidences are inevitable. Enough times go by this kind of thing is bound to happen.
What about the millions of others who prayed for a lottery win? Sometimes winners are atheists or people of other faith. Is your god on a holiday then?
Yeah, but the thing is it doesn't happen right the next day..
Yeah it does, it did. You even provided an article about it. It happened. Rule of big numbers.
Dude like you said millions of people pray to win the lottery, yet millions lose everyday.
How many actually pray to win a jackpot and it happens in a matter of hours? Virtually zero.
Even the athiest who mom won the jackpot couldn't deny the miracle of being divine intervention.
@SyrRamzan: He said he's no athiest no more after what he experienced. Lol
@SyrRamzan probably not maybe his mom turns out to be an ass and tells him to fuck off , who knows
How many times someone wins hours after praying? Probably all the time, considering how many people are religious and pray consistently and how often there are lotteries in almost every single country, weekly or more. It's inevitable. Big articles aren't written on every victory and neither you or me know which victors prayed hours before or not, but mostly likely every now and then someone does.
So one atheist doesn't understand probability calculus and the concept of big numbers relating to it. So what? He just didn't know any better.
Fair enough. I choose to believe God had a direct hand in this athiest life for whatever reason.
but athiests know everything... iam confused now
@SyrRamzan: Same. I have no desire to force you to believe what you don't desire to believe. If you desire to believe a dead rat smells good, then so be it. Smell on. 😃
@SyrRamzan stating your opinion is your right, but insulting us is not, you crossed the line and now you must face the consequences.
@SyrRamzan no, the consequences will be more about losing your instagram, facebook account, this accout on gag and maybe even $$ :) , have fun while it lasts.
@SyrRamzan when i say i do, you can be sure of that.
talking shit about christianity is something that happens and it won't change that it has over 2 billion followers or that mircales are happening daily to a lot of people even if you have never met any of them.
but little pricks like you need some discpline to know how to talk to others and have a civilised conversation without insulting them, and its fun to ruin the life of someone like you, so iam gonna do it
@SyrRamzan threatining implies that i may or may not do something depending on your action, and since iam a man of my word so no i dont threaten, i show results , and you will get some.
@SyrRamzan you probably also believe that men get pregnant and breastfeed their babies... i mean it does look like you have titties...
@SyrRamzan are you married?
@SyrRamzan makes sense women are never that dumb to be with someone like you.
i am just wasting time here when i dont have to one mans opinion of the religion of over 2 billion... yeah i can see you winning that battle... now destroying your entire cyber life thats something iam more excited about doing.
Cheeeezus, calm yo tits fellas! You're adults, try and learn how to act like one..

Honestly, its the daily mail. They are a shining example of the worst sort of journalism that exists in the world today. Id imagine that the story has been twisted at least slightly.
Even if it were 100%, I wouldn't view it as evidence of God. I mean how many people do you think pray to win something and never do? I dont view this as being anything symbolic or special in any way. I had a friend who literally prayed to Satan as a joke and then his horse won the Grand National. Similarly, I don't view that as evidence of Satan
I suspect a horse winning the Grand National race has extremly better odds at winning it 1000 straight times than you winning a lottery jackpot.
You're right but that isn't the point. How many people who play the lottery pray to God and never ever win anything? Id imagine a fair few. Do you not think people have prayed to different Gods and won?
Its just odds. At least one person wins the lottery every week and this person didn't win the lottery, they won the raffle. Something like 20 or 25 people are guaranteed to win that twice a week. Its not the same odds as winning the lottery. Yes it may still be unlikely but you can't pick one example and ignore all others.
Fair enough. But the Guy decided not to be athiest anymore. That experienced shook him to the core.
People are so stupid it hurts.
Probability and theory of big numbers. Learn that. And season that with little bit of logic.
Did something unlikely happened to you? Cool. You see only what you see. You don’t see what DIDN’T happened to you. You don’t see all other people and what happens to them.
So basically, you have insane number of unlikely events, you have a lot of time and recently, an insane amount of people. So…someone will get some really unlikely event. And suddenly, god. :-D I know you don’t se it, but still… Do you see how ridiculous that is?
Bad shit happens, and…god works in mysterious ways. :-) Yeah. Sure, he does. ;-)
And to me it’s confusing, that someone like you got the influencer badge. You are spewing mind virus, propaganda and…evil.
And please, do me a favor. Report this comment. For…whatever reason you see fit. Surprise me. :-)
You can feel to your thoughts. Doesn't bug me one bit.
You don’t throw any bible quote to me? Awww, that’s almost disappointment.
I don’t really care if it’s bug you or not, I care more about the state of knowledge out there. I care about ideas, not people. Religion? Bad idea. Science? Well…you benefit from it. All the time.
There is nothing to quote from the Bible to your commnet besides, that God is sovereign. Meaning whatever happens is not outside or control of God.
He can activity make something happen or let it happen.
God isn't.
In his fictional world: he punishes people for all kinds of stuff (which he is also guilty of). But he makes those people, fully knowing, what they will do.
In the other words:
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?
(Epicurus, Greek philosopher, 341 – 270 B. C.)
Mic drop.
Don't you athiests have any orginal thoughts of your own? Y'all always post some other athiest thoughts of the past. Smh lol
While religios people post their own thought.
Oh, wait…you just parrot the bible. Nevermind. :-)
"God's word is clear that God doesn't listen to the prayers of sinners" Where is that written? And perhaps you meant God doesn't answer the prayers of sinners. This prayer was a selfless one so God took it upon himself to answer and possibly killed two birds with one stone by making a believer out of the Atheist. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
John 9:31:
Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.
Proverbs 15:29:
The Lord is far from the wicked,
But He hears the prayer of the righteous.
That may well be true, but that doesn't mean he grants them a lottery win. To solve problems, he may be looking at other means. He hears the prayers, hears being the operative word. You also have to take into account that holy books are written by mere mortals, from their own experiences. They are not first hand words of God, but interpretations of peoples consciences.
@Alistayr: The Bible is God's inspired word through his Holy Spirit.
Why Christianity is the Only and True Religion of God ↗
@Alistayr Money is secular. What use does God have for money? And what is conscientiousness?
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy Good quotes. Should a distinction be made that God may listen to all prayers, but only hears those who believe? Maybe God answered someone else's prayer. We can never be certain. Science dictates there is uncertainty in every choice we make. So faith is involved whether we like it or not.
@love_conquers_lust I didn't mention conscientiousness. I said people's consciences. Nor did I say God needed money.
@Alistayr Conscientiousness is the state of having conscience. I didn't say God needed it. I asked "what USE does he have for it?"
@Alistayr "And What use does God have for money is the same as saying Why does God need money." Then regardless of whether you believe that statement is true, would your answer not be the same? Which you still haven't shared yet. Are you quibbling/avoiding here?
"I know what it means" Do you?
"They are not first hand words of God, but interpretations of peoples consciences." Why do we have conscience? What is it's purpose? How does it work? Whom does it affect? When does it begin and end? From where did it originate? More succinctly, what is conscientiousness?
@Alistayr You mean you no longer want to have an argument about it?
@Alistayr Ah, well my belief is that an omnipotent being likely has no use for money. And that it's possible that God is the answer to the ultimate question, "why?". Such as "why do we have conscienceless?"
Here's a fun one, if man is flawed and God created man in his image, does that make God flawed?
As it happens, I totally agree with your belief. It's the religious stuff that I'm at odds with. I am sure there is an omnipotent being.
Anyway, to your question. I don't believe man is flawed, as such. He is in God's image, with a power of choice, which he can use for good or evil.
If God exists, he definitely has a very twisted sense of humor.
Step 1: Exist
Step 2: Create the universe
Step 3: Not give a single proof of my own existence
Step 4: Demand that people believe in me despite me giving no evidence
Step 5: Make my humans go to war because some don't believe in me since no evidence were given
Step 6: Punish all rational human beings who want evidence for all eternity
Step 7: Claim to love everyone!
God basically created the universe so that he would have someone to play a sick prank on!
Winning the lottery is not necesarily a good thing. Many lottery winners end up far worce off than before they had won the lottery. If God is good then it's not for the reason he lets some people win litteries.
As for the prayer, I think that it is going to make it hardet for the atheist to believe there is no God.
I vote: God is good, but it's irrational to think the prayer was directly connected to winning the lottery.
I agree that winning a lottery isn't really a good thing for the majority of people, but for some strange reason God made a exception for this guy and his mom.
Maybe he did it for his glory or somehow someone will benefit from the story or from the money givin to them as a blessing to help others who might desperately one day need a huge financial helping hand.
I think it's important to use money responsibly. If I was in the same situation as the family in the article I would indeed be thankful. But I would not take it as a blessing. To me, this would be a trial. What to do with the money? Does it take my mind off of what's important? If I am actively trying to think of God, do I start thinking of all the ways I can spend it on low brow pleasures, for myself? Do I give to charity? What charity is the right charity? Do I give some to my family or to the church? How much to give?
The more I won, the bigger the problem. So yes, of course it's God's (or Nature's, as I prefer) mercy, however not in the from of relief, but in the form of responsibility.
Everything this reality gives us is ment for us to think about our place in this world, react accordingly and figure out how to use our finite time time well.
That's simply the laws of probability and action. Just because something is unlikely to happen and does happen does not mean it is proof of some fantastical, supernatural being.
If you want me to believe in a deity you're going to have to show undeniable proof that could pass the rigors of the scientific method.
Oh, please. Science is great. No doubt about it. But science has it's screw ups and is bound to change theories as knowledge increases. So quit being a zombie and putting all your hope in it.
People like you wouldn't even believe the miracles the lord Jesus was doing if you saw it with your own two eyes when he walking the earth back then or now if he would have come and do the miracles.
People like you will always be in denial and reject everything that you don't desire to accept even if it hit you right in the face.
John 12:37:
But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him.
I voted C. It's always good when an atheist finds God.
Are you sure it wasn't Plutus that had answered his prayers? or that it wasn't Mammon? Or how about Lakshmi or Kubera? Or Fortuna or Tyche? How can you be 100% certain that it was the Judeo-Christian God and not any of the other "gods" or "goddesses" of wealth, fortune and greed that answered his prayers? What makes you so sure that it was "god" and not other deities?
Considering how many poor and starving people pray for his help every day, I think it's crazy to believe he answered the prayer of a mocking atheist to make some Staten Island mother wealthier.
Believing in a god like that, is a sign that your faith is fucked up.
There is an old saying, God works in mysterious ways and may God bless the man for believing God now.
I am Athiest 100%, don't want to offend any religious people at all, but I strongly believe that it was just bound to happen, or in other words also just a coincidence.
You're entitled to your opinion.
Well, I mean tell me what does god look like? Has he communicated with you or something? Ask yourself do you really think there is a heaven and a hell? If the bible even claims that god sees everyone as "equal" in his eyes, then why does he send people that he considers to be "bad" in hell. Also, scientists have absolutely no proof of god's existence. This is factual information, rather than my own opinion, thank you very much!
God The Father is a Spirit and his Son the lord Jesus Christ is the image of God The Father in form human form. In other words He is God in the flesh.
And yes hell fire is real and it's for the wicked.
Why Did God Create Hell? What Is The Difference Between Hell And The Lake Of Fire? And What Happens At The Final Resurrection Of The Dead? ↗
Who told you God loves everyone?
Oh, haha no one told me, but the bible even claims this, I expected you to know for a fact. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life, therefore, John 3:16 tells people of the love God has for people and the extent of that love—so great that He sacrificed His only Son on people's behalf.
Lol you think I don't know that scripture?
That scripture is referring to God loves humanity and desires to save everyone from his wrath in hell, but his intimate love are for those who are in Christ not for the wicked.
When a person decides that they want to be hell bent living in sin, hence God hates them. God doesn't love evil people.
Psalm 5:4-6:
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness,
Nor shall evil dwell with You.
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;
You hate all workers of iniquity.
You shall destroy those who speak falsehood;
The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
Intelligent design and life can't possibly come from a non intelligent source. It's impossible.
There is a superior being over us who has limitless, power, smarts, wisdom and a brilliant mind and is creator God.
Who you think created the universe, planets, sun, moon, sea, brain, eyes, ears, tongue, nose, gentials, heart, liver, kidney, fruits, vegetables, animals, conscience, and the 5 senses?
Go study the masterpiece of a eye and ear, the complexity of DNA, atoms etc.
It's clear and obvious and honestly basic logic a brilliant mind was behind it all.
Intelligent design and life is the proof.. lol... You really think you came from slime? Get real.
Fine. 😎
Lollllll what a great sense of humor but man I've only asked for 50 bucks come on
This track from 80's / 90's electronic legends , Depeche Mode , is on the same theme... Blasphemous Rumours...
my thoughts are by all means believe the bible if you wish but please stop reading the daily mail. they really are full of shit
I never play the lottery, so If God had a sense of humour, I would win the jackpot.
lol Most people are probably praying to god every time they play the lottery... So, it’s bound to happen.
If it would have happened say one month or year later I can you see rejecting it as divine sent, but if it happens only in a matter of hours to me that is extremly unlikely.
You have any idea how hard is to win a jackpot?
Let me give you an idea.
Say I drop just 1 million quarters throughout your city and the winning quarter is painted green and blind folded you and just gave you shot to pick up the winning quarter to win the jackpot.
That's your odds of winning a jackpot. It's virtually impossible.
*one shot
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy I love your analogy. Spot on.
They gonna belike its just coincidence
God gonna be like
Lmbo
No way that the guy that makes 3.3 million babies be stillborn has a sense of humour
God doesn't create babies. All creation was finished on the 6th day. Go read Genesis.
Then how do you expect God rig the lottery?
God is the MOST HIGH and can do whatever He feels like doing.
He puts up whom He wishes to put up and bless and puts down whom He wishes to put down and curse at his will and pleasure and there's nothing you and I or angel or devil can do about it.
Then why is he using his power to let some woman win the lottery instead of instead of letting those 3.3 million babies die during childbirth?
It was actually a blessing those babies didn't come to this super evil earth.
They will be in the 1000 year reign of Christ alive and enjoying a beautiful peaceful earth.
Ecclesiastes 4:1-4:
Then I returned and considered all the oppression that is done under the sun:
And look! The tears of the oppressed,
But they have no comforter—
On the side of their oppressors there is power,
But they have no comforter.
Therefore I praised the dead who were already dead,
More than the living who are still alive.
Yet, better than both is he who has never existed,
Who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
What about those babies's parents that cared for him/her for nine months and made him? They're grieving for life because they lost their child and might've raised a good Christian
Life's tough and ugly for everyone. This world is corrupt and fallen by sin.
It's just a probability. She won, but she could have lost. You're focusing on the one who won, but how many of those who played prayed to win and didn't?
Probably much more.
I wonder if I'll block you if I'll stop seeing your posts. I'll give it a go.
