I never have difficulty being friends with intelligent religious individuals whether Christian or Jewish or Muslim or Hindu.

But when I try to be friends with an unintelligent person or a non religious person, they always end up rejecting my friendship because they are angered by something I say or they do not like my personality.

The bible says when a man is skillful in his work, he will not have low quality friends, either low quality in a professional sense or low quality in a moral sense.

The answer you were looking for when you asked this question is simply, "they do not value what we value." Most value possessions. So they are simply different than you, and I do not mean that in a derogatory way towards nonbelievers but you have to choose.

I don't think anyone should speak for God, unless they have had a divine intervention or in some cases, have prayed and studied for many, many years. So I won't either in this case.

But I will speak my own mind. God is always in the building business. Not sabotage. I think he is building connections. I think this was most importantly, necessary. Nothing He does isn't necessary. Understand that and everything else is a breeze.

You posed a fine question. There's no reason to be offended or off-put by anything such as this, and it is why with without action or words, He swiftly keeps order between you and those friends. Trust that. I am sure when you feel heavy doubt or regret after saying something, they get same feeling after the rebuttal or awkward pause.. sometimes they might respond harshly.. right? Why? Well they have bolstered themselves up with something called Pride. And we all have it. It's how it is used. I am speaking from personal experience, but this typical behavior. People want you to join in on their name calling and cussing. Whether that is demonic, an unknown force, or a bad habit, still don't know... cause you can take the most logical guy with no history of wrong doings or ailments, then he could influence someone to do some wrong and he didn't even know what he was doing at the time. Thats a spark in the forest.

This is a common occurence, and its the only explanation even for outbursts short of tourrettes or a legitimate ailment.

Anyway, to sum it up, most people just wanna work to make ends meet and have a laugh. Which is reasonable, but its limited. When that point came in their life, they abandoned or tried to abandon God. So he's there, they know it, but they don't have Him on their hearts. Which is why your spirit is reaching out. I've done the same. By speaking out at a bad time, you are trying to... hint something important. To save them from damnation, even if its a start. Remember that the things we say do not always come out the right way. And that you are being a good friend, trying to help another friend. If they tried to help you out, I am sure you would be grateful.

Do you rabbit on about religion when you're with those people? Most of us just don't need to hear that shit thrown into EVERY conversation! My guitarist's brother is a big bible thumper and, I don't mind talking to him or hanging out with him but, EVERY conversation becomes a religious tirade before we're done!! How would you like it if I praised Hitler or Charlie Manson and turned EVERY conversation into one about them and the things they said and believed? It's like that girl in, "American Pie" that relates EVERYTHING in her life to her experiences in band camp! I love records and have about 59,000 of them but, I hardly EVER talk records with anyone besides a couple fellow vinyl junkies!
It's like that episode of You Bet Your Life when Groucho was talking to a guy that said he had something like a dozen kids. Groucho asked him why he had so many kids. The guy said, "I love my wife." Groucho says, "I love my cigar but I take it out of my mouth once in a while!".
Besides, before you can talk about someone and how great they are, you have to prove they even exist, first!
As for your last comment, I beg to differ. I'm quite skillful at playing drums and did it at least semi-professionally for 25 years, however; of the 20 or 30 people that were in the band just during those years (not including the 6 or 8 years before I joined), I can think of maybe 8 that were not low quality or at least sub-par.

I think you should work on your skillfulness. If the bible says man or he won't have low quality friends. then I think it might not apply to you as a women... just saying the bible said.

And of course everything in bible has double meanings... and there are types of qualities people have other than their level of intelligence. so maybe you need to learn be more humble about yourself and perspective on other people.

The more good you are, the more righteous you are, the more enemies you will make. You can’t be friends with everyone. Not even God can do that when people have free will, and choice to form their own opinions and decisions. If you can’t agree with someone, just move on.

Many Christians have a tendency to think it’s the other person and God is either helping you by removing them or that the world hates them because they are Christian and they also hated Jesus. Sometimes there is truth to it but a lot of times the person has trouble looking at what they are doing to upset another person or put another person off. We have no way of knowing if God Is sabotaging your relationships because we aren’t there. That’s up to you to make that discernment but always look at your part as well. Also, there a lot of super kind people that aren’t very “intelligent” don’t put someone off because you view them as lower intelligence or education than you.

It's not God. It's just hard to be friends with ignorant people -- no matter how tolerant we are to their beliefs, they won't give us the same courtesy.

Another point to consider is that with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. He warns us about the good and bad consequences of our actions, but he does not prevent us from exercising free will to choose for ourselves whether we believe in him more or in ourselves.
