Depends on if the girl who would be the victim attends the church. If so then yes, I would kick out the woman trying to commit murder to protect a member of my congregation. The serial killer themselves would obviously not be allowed to step foot in the church or on the grounds because they are an active threat to the safety of my congregation and also because a serial killer has no desire to repent.
However, if the would-be victim did not attend the congregation then I would NOT kick the would-be murder woman out of the church. Church is a place to help sinners find Jesus, not turn them away. God sees ALL sin as equal and instructs the church not to judge lest we be judged for our sins. It is the job of law enforcement, not the church, to punish criminals. However, I would warn the would-be victim and law-enforcement of the plot.
The ONLY way I would kick someone out of my church is if they are an immediate threat to the safety of the congregation. Outside of that, it would be my job to save souls, not turn them away. However, that does not mean I would sit idle. I would warn law enforcement and fully cooperate with their demands. My church would not be Catholic so there is no "Confidentiality of Confession". Any criminal act would be reported. I would also warn the victim if I had the means to do so. Even if my information led to the arrest and conviction of this woman, I would still welcome her to the church and she would have the choice to let one of my pastors work with her during her incarceration or not.
If this is not bullshit, go down to the police station immediately with whatever evidence you have and file a police report and speak to a detective. Get a restraining order while you're at it for both of them. You need to make sure the police are aware of the situation, and do not waste time. Do it now. Your life may depend on it.
I would let the law handle it. Either she would be found guilty or not guilty. If found not guilty, she deserves the presumption of innocence. If found guilty and sent to prison; after she is serves her time, she has paid for her crime and deserve forgiveness or the right to right to attend church.
I dont go to church but if I knew what she did
I would kill her the same way the serial killer did
I wouldn't need to kick her out of church, prison guards would stop her leaving her cell!
girl u gotta tell someone who can do something about this. that's really freaking scary
Yeap, she would be removed from our group. If she tries something, we will handle it.
For the safety of those I cared about I would keep her away from them.
What if god told her to do it? I mean god told a lot of people in the bible to kill other people... seems to be a trend.
I know your not religious and I don’t hate you or think I’m better than you, I just believe you have not experienced religion the way that I have, not all religious people are bad, but I don’t have time for debates today.
It's a valid question though, god commanded people to kill other people often, heck he drowned the entire planet and started over so it's not out of the question.
I believe the killing is metaphorical and represents killing off attitudes, behaviours, habits and mental associations, which is also what my pastor says.
I mean the accounts in exodus… weren't exactly described as metaphorical.
I believe to kill a Jebusite represents removing vanity, while removing a Canaanite represents removing unbelief, and removing a Hivite represents removing wastefulness etc…
If it were a metaphor they why was is phrased as such?
1 Samuel 15:3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
NUMBERS 31:17-18 God commanded Moses to kill all of the male Midianite children and "kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man."
If those are metaphorical, who is to say that other parts of the bible aren't as well, like when it talks about same sex relations...
I believe Amalek represent afflictions, to remove self condemning thoughts you inherited from negative people
then why does the bible explicitly say to kill all of them, including, women children and their livestock? Why not just say to remove self condemning thoughts if that is what it was supposed to mean?
Im more likely to view lgbt people as injured spirits and not as vilified demons cause I’ve never met someone in that group that was not victimized by emotional trauma in their developing years.
The woman represent the spirit or insight, the children represent the secondary expressions while the livestock represents the obligatory behaviour and sense of bondage to those things, and the bible says God speaks in metaphor so that those who are unworthy will not have access to his doctrines.
So basically you are saying that the entire bible is open to interpretation
Yes, but there is a spectrum of acceptable ways and unacceptable ways to interpret it.
If that is what it meant then why did just say that instead of giving explicit instructions on who and how they were to kill... that doesn't make sense. Especially how those instances are referenced in other parts of the bible?
Why do you believe that? Apart from the fact that is what your pastor thinks?
Numbers relates the story of Israel's journey from Mount Sinai to the plains of Moab on the border of Canaan. Much of its legislation for people and priests is similar to that in Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. The book tells of the murmuring and rebellion of God's people and of their subsequent judgment.
It wasn't a letter that was open for interpretation like a lot of the new testament was. It was a historical account of things that happened, laws, and punishments. in numbers Chapter 31 it goes on to give a detailed account of who was killed and who were taken as slaves
Numbers 31:7 - 12
7 They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and killed every man. 8 Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba—the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. 9 The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder. 10 They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps. 11 They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals, 12 and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho.
Numbers 31:7 Explicitly states "7 They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and killed every man." That doesn't really leave any room for interpretation. In the original Hebrew text of this verse the word used for kill וַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּ literally translates to kill or slew in a literal sense not a figurative sense.
Midian might represent dispositional ignorance or moral mutism and the man might be a symbol for dispositions, power or compositions, but I don’t need to interpret the bible perfectly to believe it, I just know God had intelligent reasons for creating the literature in the way he did.
But that's the thing it was written as a historical account of what happened and who died, not as metaphor.
I view the bible as metaphor and Jesus suggested multiple times that many parts of the people took as literal were actual metaphor but they people did not interpret it correctly, we know salt and light are metaphors and I’m suggesting a lot more is metaphor.
So if you view the bible as a metaphor, what's to say that the 10 commandments weren't a metaphor as well? Or the story of creation or even God the Father and God the Son?
Well the 10 commandments are half metaphor because they have a literal meaning and also a non literal meaning, like the prohibition against idolatry means your not supposed to worship athletes or beautiful woman or rich man and the commandment against not taking the name in vain also means you must avoid virtual signalling and laziness and unfulfilled potential and wasting time etc…
Okay so you believe that parts of it are metaphorical and parts of it aren't. How do you determine which parts are and which parts aren't? What's to say that the whole story of Jesus isn't just one big metaphor about rebellion against dictatorships? Or that heaven and hell isn't just a metaphor?
I believe the whole bible has a metaphorical meaning but some of it also has a literal meaning too.
How do you determine which is literal and which is metaphorical?
By the evaluation of character, if a literal interpretation is ethical or respectable, it’s literal and if it’s unethical, it’s only metaphor.
Okay so basically are deciding what is true and what isn't based on your own moral compass? If parts of the bible make you uncomfortable, or you just don't like them then it isn't literal, its just a metaphor?
Yes, because the bible says human beings are created in the image of God so humans are born with a limited ability to discern between good and evil, and if they follow that ability it grows stronger. The image of God is internal and moral, not physical or sexual.
The bible also says that man is inherently evil so how do you know that passage wasn't just a metaphor about something else?
Because from my stand point it looks like you are just picking and choosing which parts of the book you actually want to follow.
Yes - humans are capable of both good and bad and do both good and bad and must seek God to deal with the bad or at least serve Him if they do not seek him, like I believe that atheists who charity work are serving God if they do it secretly and are not arrogant or proud about it.
so you are picking and choosing which parts to believe...
The bible says that serving God involves choosing what is good, someone who does not choose for himself cannot offer God real love because if you do not choose to be obedient to your conscience, you cannot follow what your conscience says. Your conscience will not chase you, you must chase your morals, or you will be lost.
So you believe that people chose what is good and bad? Or if you meant that the bible tells you what is good and bad, how can your really even know if the bible is all one big metaphor?
I think if you are faithful to the good you understand, God will teach you more and in the Catholic bible it says obedience leads to wisdom while the Protestant proverbs says seeking God leads to wisdom and Jesus said humanitarian kindness done in secret, righteous prayers in secret, or fasting done in secret, leads to spiritual rewards.
Surely it's gods church and not yours. At best the church authorities could argue for her expulsion but that's not the place of the members.
Kick her out of the church? She should be in prison. Her soul belongs to God, but if somebody's hiring hitmen to off people than her ass belongs to the justice system.
If I was the pastor I would do a message on the sixth commandment (thou shalt not murder)
Other than that take what evidence you have to the police
And of course pray about it
your church going questions tend to get a little old but this one definitely puts the icing on the cake
I'm Catholic. The church never turns anyone away even if they don't repent.
Wouldn't forgiveness and acceptance be the Christ-like thing to do?
I will let police do the honours
N O, I would not kick her out of Church, because she is in most need of church!
I'd kick her straight to jail.
Open up FBI...
How would I even know about this information?
