I’m confused on the difference between "God and Jesus". If Jesus is the son of God, why is he sometimes referred to as God?

Because God the Father (God) and God the Son (Jesus Christ) are consubstantial with one another. They are distinct Persons, but they are of the same substance. What "substance" means philosophically is that in order for a thing to exist, what it exists as must exist in itself. Follow me on this.

I am a man. In order for me to be a man, "man", the concept of "man" must exist. "Man" does not depend upon me for its existence, but for me to be a man, "man" must exist first. "Man" existed before I was born and it will continue to do so after I die. Likewise with you as a woman. If you are to be a woman, "woman" must exist.

With that established, to be for God the Father (God) and God the Son (Jesus Christ) to be "consubstantial" means that They are of the same substance. The previous translation of the Nicene Creed used to say that Jesus Christ is "one in being with the Father", but "consubstantial" more accurately communicates this mystery.

You'll see this concept of consubstantiality play out in the first chapter of Saint John's Gospel, which was written to defend the Divinity of Christ. We read that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (emphasis mine)".

It is the holy trinity, something very complicated to understand even for those who are very Catholic.
Basically, all three parts of it, father (God), son (Jesus) and holy spirit are God. Don't think of it as "parts of a whole", but THE WHOLE somehow with a different shape and understanding of itself. Jesus, for example, is called "the son" because he was born from God, but he is essentially God himself walking as a mortal in order to interact with humanity and spread the word. That was his role and he understood it. So, when he died, his "divine essence" is what returned to God.

Holy Trinity is extremly dificul to put in words, you simply understand it as a cristian.
Basicly Jesus is the son of God, God father is the one who create Jesus and holy spirit, separate or togeder they are the one and only God
