there's a lot of things I agree with and live by... and that are in principle, aligned with religious principles... without me being subscribed to a particular religion
and I would like such principles to have an equivalent in law, now if you were to eliminate all laws that have an equivalent or are based on religious principles... that would not necessarily make things any better, and if you were going to be selective about which ones you want to hold and which others to eliminate, then you're just discriminating and banning subjectively... which is not a good thing at all
you are just imposing more of what you would not want imposed on yourself...
and this would be good and better for you... but it would not be good nor better for others you're imposing your subjectivity upon, lol

Um, you seem to be confused, here. Egalitarianism IS a matter of religion- it's a decision made based on principle, not evidence. The idea of treating everyone equally for the best results is a matter of faith, and even if evidence DOES come to support it, it was religious motivations that pushed the ideas to the fore in the first place.
It's like asking if shooting everyone would result in fewer people being shot.
No I don't think it would. By banning laws based on religion you would be taking religious freedom away. I'm not gay but if I was why would I want to give my hard earned money to a business that doesn't agree with my lifestyle when I can go to another business that provides the same services.
the thing is
civil laws originate based on religion
obviously they aren't all but i feel like itd be very chaotic
the extreme religious stuff however is more problematic
