Do you think its wrong for Christians to choose their friends based on how popular they are?

I think it's okay to reject people you don't like and hang out with people you do, but I think its wrong to choose friends based on their popularity and not on whether you like them or not.

I've met people with very religious reputations that do that and I suspect God will reject them on judgment day, cause He said if you do not acknowledge good people that are unpopular, you will be rejected by God when he appears with the angels.

I don't gossip, I keep it to myself. But I know in my private mind these people are snobs and when God appears, he will treat these people like strangers and not like HIs children.

It's wrong for anyone to do that but even more wrong for those that consider themselves "religious". It shows that they're not so religious afterall. Folks should choose friends based on criteria such as goodness, maturity, honour, et cetera.

I would say definitely. That seems to be part of the theme of James 2.
