Scriptures to back up that polgony and polygamy marriages are unlawful?

Had a guy tell me about his polgony/ polygamy practices, and I told him it's outside of my traditions and beliefs. Can anyone back up some scriptures that say these types of relationships are wrong and illegal.

It isn't wrong. There's Muslims who marry up to 4 wives. That's probably the religion he believe or maybe in his country it's perfectly legal. You don't know him and his culture. He might be a fundamentalist Moran or Muslim.

As you can see in Western countries Monogamy is falling apart. Divorce after divorce. In other countries polygamy is normal in their culture and they are the ones building families while the Western countries birthrate is in decline.

Why are you judging him and his culture? Most relationships are starting to turn poly because of divorces and how much tradionalism is failing and making people unhappy.

Do I agree with the way he lives? No, but I am not going to tell him he's wrong. He can do what he wants.

I'm not judging his culture- I told him numerous of times I wasn't interested in his practices or offer. I told him that I'm a traditional woman and declined his offer. If he believes in that practice he should pursue women who do instead of forcing me to be with him and date him

Huh? I am confused now 🤣. You just asked for a way to disprove his beliefs and tell him he's wrong. And now you are mentioning he is trying to force you into a relationship with him? Then report him to the police if he's trying to force you into doing stuff you don't want to do. You don't need scriptures just call the police on someone who is harassing you and trying to force you into a relationship with him. You don't need to have a civil conversation with someone who is trying to force you to be with him. You call the police or block him.

Even if he's fundamentalist mormon in Utah America you don't need to disprove him just delete and block him and tell the police.

And by the way marriage is a more recent thing. Do you think cave men were getting married to only one woman? For 1000s of years most men were ploy. Marryimg is a more recent thing. Even in the middle ages people slept around all the time.

A contract binding you to one person isn't in nature.

Romans 7:2-3, “For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.”

No religion of the book will forbid ploygamy for men. For women. however, I would be surprised if Jusaism or Chrisitianity allow multiple husbands.
