Christians, Do You Believes God Is Male?

I know I am poorly asking the question so I'll try to explain a bit. I was talking with a Christian recently who said God is male. I asked how they personally know/believe that (I like to know people's beliefs). They said because God is refereed to as He in the Bible. And then I asked since Genesis 1:26-28 says that human beings were made in the image of God, does that mean God posses both male and female? I know it's a stupid question lol, but I like to know what others think. The Christian I asked got mad & said it's wrong for me to question. I did not mean to be mean or a smart aleck, I was just wondering. So, what do you think? Thank you!

Anyone who tells you it's wrong to question- regardless of what it is you're questioning- is someone who you can disregard.

As to God- "male" and "female" are consequences of the way life evolved on Earth; they don't apply to deities. "He" is the pronoun used when the gender of the individual in question is unknown, and the whole "Father" aspect is more about role than biological function.

Jesus Christ was male when he was on Earth. God, no matter how you look at it, is a creature where sex and gender has no meaning.

This, of course, depends on whether a person believes in a god or not.

Reason, in philosophy is the faculty or process of drawing logical inferences at the expense of sensation, feelings, desires, etc. The point is to be able question and evaluate ideas to arrive at fundamental truths. Questions are always asked in Christianity, thus why there is such a thing as Bible study. Christians reason with God and ask questions about the Bible. They ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Christians discuss the questions and scriptures pertaining to the Bible among one another. They debate the meaning of scripture and try to arrive at logical reasonable conclusions about what is documented in the Bible. Even Jesus asks the Israelites question after question to get us to think and reason. So to pretend Christians tell you not to ask questions is just foolish. To not accept questions would be to reject Jesus himself. The point of view you project onto Christians is very Islamic/Communist in nature as is the entire "You worship a man." argument. It's very transparent.

The God of Christianity is a Triune God composed of three divine persons that are one in nature whom are The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. A father is someone that sustains his people. I know people on Girls Ask Guys love their penis questions, but being a father in a divine sense is about the nature of God, not about penis size. Does God appear at a human man to men in order to communicate? Sure. Does the Word of God (i. e. Jesus) take on human nature? Yes. Why? Well think of it this way. Adam who was created of dust of the Earth, trespassed on God's law in disobedience which made all men sinners. The price of sin is death. Thus one man's trespass on God's law, allowed death to reign through that one man. Therefore, God loving his creation more than we can understand was willing to take on human nature as a second Adam of sorts, but he originated from divinity not of dust. If one man's sin could condemn all of mankind to death, so to could one man's act of righteousness and obedience grant all of mankind eternal life. So God in his love, takes on human nature in order to die a human death of his own will after a life of righteousness and obedience to save man from himself and grant his believers eternal life.

old testament has both grammar for god "female you and male you" we call him "father" but not physical male father. as others mock us.

The function of 'gender' is to affect evolutionary genetic diversity... 'sex' is but the means to reshuffle the DNA to affect opportune circumstantial variants. I take it you haven’t actually read the Bible,….. or you did and you read what you wanted it say instead of what it actually says. All of those objections are addressed (and even answered) in….. yep, you guessed it: The Bible. Okay, I'm not a Christian and never read the Bible, but I believe the explanation some drunk carpenter told me once was that God was male because he was the father of Jesus. But, then, Jesus becomes God, who is also male, so the question of the sex of the first is irrelevant anyways. But, I don't know that was just one faction of Christians that believe that way.

It is a bit of a trick question, because spiritual beings do not have biological sex or gender.

God is a spirit, so he is not male or female in a human biological sense. However, in the Bible God is always referred to with masculine terms and pronouns, and when angels appear in physical form they are always described as male. For example, Adam was created in God’s image, and all the angels that took on human form in the Scriptures were male, including the disobedient angels in Genesis 6 who desired human women.

Since gender as we know it only exists in biological life within our universe, it does not apply to spiritual beings. In the heavenly resurrection, both men and women who are granted life in heaven will be like angels, without gender, because they will not marry or reproduce. So while God is always represented in masculine terms in Scripture, it is not because he has a biological gender, hence is it not male or female in the classic sense.

But from what we get to read about God indicates a lot of human male parallels, and not too much human female characteristics.

Especially - God does not seem to talk much, unless there's something to say. And he doesn't get emotional when we don't do what he wants us to do

God is God, He's not defined by gender. God is referred to as He, but He isn't referred to as a male. It's a bit like how a ship is referred to as a she but it's not a female.

Well, in school we were taught the "Our Father" because it's always been a patriarchal society, however, technically God is not a physical being so there's no male or female value. We were ALL made in God's image...
