Trending & News There is no accurate way to measure intelligence. IQ tests have been proven to be biased and unreliable, and philosophy is not a measure of intellect. Each has been influenced by the societies that existed at the time of their inception. Wabi Sabi was heavily influenced by Taoism and Zen Buddhism, finding beauty in the temporary as we face the inevitability of destruction, religions popular in East Asia during the 1500’s. Existentialism was heavily influenced following the mass tragedies of World War 2, saying life has no real meaning and so you have to make one in order to find some kind of joy in suffering “One must imagine Sisyphus happy.” Absurdism is a response to Nihilism, and so on.
Everything comes from something and if we’re being totally honest, there’s no one “correct” philosophy that signifies levels of intellect. Anyone who wishes to learn really only has to choose a preference at that point, and both is certainly an option.
Both are useful. I practice Stoicism and Buddhism for instance. I think George Carlin was more a philosopher than a comedian. I've read widely from classical to modern philosophy, religious texts and psych/sociology. It all has something useful!
Som western philosophy has structure but east quotations is for people who wanna get high or drink tea.

Neither. I don't believe in the wisdom of the heathen.
I believe in the wisdom of the Bible only.
