I don’t know how they got the other names. I know Michael may be listed somewhere in the Bible. We don’t know ALL the angels and their names. We barely know some according to how they’re described in the Bible like within revelation.
I think there is an angel of death who only brings about death. Somewhat close to Lucifer (if not Lucifer himself) another with him who does this. The one people depict as grim reaper. With the scythe. I believe the scythe also has some correlation and description in the Bible a few times and mentioned in revelation. God had referenced sinners who would never choose him and near judgement day to be like chaff that has to be filtered/sorted/separated from the wheat which would represent his own. (Those who acknowledged him).
There’s a bunch to it I just haven’t read the Bible in a long time but even if people disagree with the Bible or deny god, the Bible makes a lot of sense. The logic that flows through it. It’s just- cynics and critics will not be able to receive that or accept that. If you look close and listen to good pastors who study the Bible you’ll understand that stuff more and make the links/connections.
I believe (personally) that god allowed fallen angels to bring harm to whom he said. Like with job Lucifer wanted to prove god wrong, and god demonstrated job would remain faithful to him. He had confidence in job’s loyalty to god. He said Lucifer could take things away but not harm job. So even if angels are fallen they can’t take any souls nor harm those who belong to god. They need permission. Even if they don’t serve him he is king over all existence.
It’s technical stuff. Also I believe angels like Michael just fought other angels who were fallen and not for god. “Evil spirits.”
Michael may possibly bring about the wrath of god. In the form of judgement. (Carry out his orders) and it would most positively be on sinners those who didn’t follow god and that was only in the Old Testament (before Christ + without blood sacrifice and repentance).
But I think since these angels are supposed to do work for god I feel like they wouldn’t harm sons of Adam. I think that would be certain allowance to the fallen angels who also take it gladly. According to the Bible they hate god and his people (all sons of Adam- made of flesh/ in god image/ non angels) and so they will jump at any chance to harm. They usually are able to torment the people who didn’t follow or belong to god. So since Egyptians were not recognizing of god and etc etc. they could technically be possessed and other things. I’m not sure why we don’t see possession documented but we do see plagues come about and that was most likely done by the fallen.
In short, I can’t vote. I fully believe there is one angel of death and it’s either Lucifer or another and we don’t have his name.
Lucifer was more of a challenger so I’d really assume the death angel was another we don’t really know. We just know his duty in the unseen realm. In Greek they call him hades. But 🤷♀️ I don’t believe that.
Both Samael and Azrael take up a role as a sort of Angel of Death. Azrael is know as the one who sepperates soul from body, and Samael is know as "The Venom of God". Both can be seen as the same being.
I see I seen your other question and it makes more sense now. I don’t believe such angel existed cause it wasn’t listed in the Christian bible/ Hebrew Torah. And God has specific individuals who wrote about him- i. e. Moses wrote the Ten Commandments and first books in bible such as genesis and exodus.
Later the Books of the New Testament were written by his actual disciples, those who followed Jesus.
God and Jesus had designated writers and according to their writings God and Jesus acknowledged and supported the claims they are father and son and of the trinity (joined with holy spiritual). So since I grew up reading those books instead of the Islamic versions I can’t agree on that. I apologize if this offends.
As of now I follow no religion or study anything nor pray and speak to any deity. I will only ever consider the Bible to have been closer to the truth than the others.
The others seem to somewhat reinforce the Bible/Torah but in mixed ways. Mentioning a plethora of other names and rules instead of love right wrong and redemption.
Apologies again and also interesting to at least read up on. I’ll google those real quick. Fascinating stuff
A not very nice one. The type that kills babies and yet is so dumb it needs blood spread in a door to know who is who. Wouldn't an angel already know that.
True true
But instead of murdering a lamb per person it was one lamb for the household. Lambs were seen to have pure blood and so their blood was for sacrifice. Until later of course no need for routinely slaughtered lambs because Jesus would be considered the ultimate sacrifice and make way so people didn’t have to succumb to sinful urges. Or sinful regrets. Nor face the consequences of those such sins.
The blood was supposed symbolic of the blood Jesus would shed much later found in the New Testament.
It wasn’t confusion, but importance of blood sacrifices for doing wrong in gods eyes (sin). It’s just more so the language of it. It’s a marker for the angel of death and it’s a sacrifice for god himself. It’s atonement for the Israelites.
Sin is what brings about separation and death. So the Egyptians who committed sins and would face the plagues had sin upon them and no blood to ransom themselves. I don't know if that makes sense, but that’s what I think it most likely means according to scripture and sermons about God and all those relationships and connected points. But yeah sucked to be them
@purplepoppy I'm glad I worship this purple smiley devil emoji instead 😈 I don't worship poppy 🤭 in purple 🤭
Azrael holds a benevolent role as God's angel of death; he acts as a psychopomp (meaning a guide of souls), responsible for transporting the souls of the deceased after their death.
In Islam, he is said to hold a scroll concerning the fate of mortals, recording and erasing their names at their birth and death.
Similar to the role of the malakh ha-mavet (Angel of Death) in Judaism.
The source about the plague is the SAME one that said yahweh did it. Bible never said any angel did it... The opposite exodus 12 yahweh spoke and said "i will hit first born , i will see the blood, i will "pass over" the houses with blood".
Those theologians don't really believed bible.

Wasn't Raphael? I seriously think your poll forgot Raphael
I don't believe Raphael is associated with killing or death in any way.
Angels, Demons where is the difference. Both serve the same Lord with similar tools of intimidation, brutality, violence and death.
It was probably me
