So there's a guy i accidentally started chatting to on the dating app im on. he's not after anything long term and i wouldn't be interested as he has a kid but as i found him attractive i swiped right when he didn't have that on his profile.

He told me straight away what he was after, without any of the crap i had before that they wanted to meet without saying what they wanted.

I told him the truth about never done anything before and my health and that if he didn't wanna continue talking he didn't have to.

Now he hinted that i could use him as a way of preparing me for whats to expect when it comes to guys. I did say i have attachment issues but we did agree if it did happen thered be no kissing or dates etc

Only thing im concerned about is im saying there won't be anything risky happening but im not sure if he would be hoping for more.

I've said if were still talking by the time my birthday comes around (14th) that we'd meet for a drink not far from where i live (obv im not gonna tell him that) and see what comes of that

He sent me a few pics, one with pants and one without, even tho i did say to keep them on. But the last pic didn't reveal anything and they put a block on photos too risky

Tried to find him on fb to no use and he obv split from his girlfriend and has court orders (but then my brother does and he hasn't done anything wrong)

I met a guy online YEARS ago, and when we 1st met, we were very much in love with each other, considering we were kids. We were dating for a few months online (lived 3 hours away, but he didn't have a car to visit, and I felt uncomfortable with the drive), so we never saw each other physically besides video calls/pics. I met a guy at my undergrad school and dropped him to pursue that relationship. But we have contacted each other at least once a year since the initial split to catch up. Each time I would hear from him, he would be with another girl while I was in the same relationship. He joined the military, and I was very excited to hear from him after he was finished because I still had feelings for him.

After he left boot camp, he informed me that he was stationed across the world without a choice and that we would figure out how to communicate best since there were time differences. Around this time, my dad passed, so I was in a bad mental state, but we were planning on seeing each other since he was going to move to a different location shortly while I was going to the same city for a school conference. He disclosed that he cheated on me with another girl by getting her pregnant (miscarriage), and he couldn't see me as promised due to military circumstances. I was devasted and told him never to contact me again. I spied on him via social media to see what he was up to, and he got engaged to another girl.

Recently, he kept popping up on my social media, and I decided to message him at the beginning of this month to check-in. He was thrilled I reached out. He told me that his engagement had been canceled, disclosed that he loved me, and said he'd pay for my flight to see him physically. I got weird vibes about it all since he didn't fully close the ex-fiance chapter and even had sex with her while we were discussing our future. I cut it off yesterday because he did not show that he changed. Do you think I did the right thing?

29F, have been told I’m pretty/attractive, have a younger face which is how I could be deemed as cute instead. When I tell you I’ve never been approached by a guy I’d actually want to date, I get attention from guys in person but it’s usually the questionable ones. I’ve been told on and off in the past that a guy I found attractive would look at me/found me attractive but never did anything about it (I’m too shy to also). I don’t have any in person friends as I work remote & sadly only rely on dating apps. The guys I match with I find attractive but not sure if I’m just unlucky (likely the case) or it’s dating apps as a whole but for some reason it doesn’t work out for a multitude of reasons. If those guys actually noticed me in person I would feel a little bit more secure. My thing is I’m pretty old in my opinion, as most people my age are married & have kids. I only have a str under my belt from a few years ago when I was in my early twenties & have been single since. I have this mindset that if I was actually attractive, I would’ve had quality guys lined up by now. Since that str, I’m very selective & am even quicker to stop something in its tracks if the guy does something that turns me off/isn’t what I’m fully looking for. I think dating has treated me very unfairly as “pretty girls” don’t deal with this, unless I’m missing something. And I’ll add this even though it shouldn’t matter that much in the very early talking stages: I don’t care about sex much at all, maybe overthinking it but unsure if that vibe is picked up on being so reserved.

TLDR: would you also think you’re unattractive if you’re almost thirty & don’t ever get attention from guys you’d actually consider dating?

29F, I’ve been on and off the dating apps for years. I’m under the impression that I want a relationship as I install apps on and off. I’m at the point where I get drained when they’re installed & when I’m not in the mood to reply to messages or swipe on profiles, I end up actually using it every other day or every couple of days. When I’m at the point where I notice I’m not getting as many matches or likes after a couple of months, that’s when I delete & likely going on hiatus. I think deep down I must want something other than validation right? I like men but I haven’t been in a ltr yet, I saw someone for a few months jn my early twenties & haven’t seen someone since bc I refuse to settle. I get interest from guys but it only seems to be on dating apps which I take with a grain of salt, I’m told I’m cute/attractive but never get noticed by guys I like in person (as in actually approached). I’m always told I haven’t found the right person & this may hold truth, I’m reserved & not affectionate/don’t have a sex drive really but feel like that could possibly change if I meet someone. I just worry I’ll feel regret as I’m getting old & still haven’t been in a ltr, I don’t want kids but open to marriage
