Authoritarian: Parents were extremely strict and not as nurturing and believed in stern discipline and punishment when the rules are not followed. Had extreme high expectations whether it was school, extracurricular activities, etc.
Authoritative: Parents that were strict, but they also showed warmth when it came to nurturing. Parents explained the rules and why you were being punished. They also set limits, enforce rules, and gave consequences, but took your feelings into consideration.
Permissive: Parents that were caring but not really strict with rules. Parents viewed the child more as their friend with open communication. There was no discipline and the child was rarely punished.
Uninvolved/Neglectful: Parents showed neither strictness nor warmth. There was no discipline as well as a lack of communication. Parents cared less about the child's education and did not really have any expectations for the child.
