I typically don’t. If they’ve made up their mind, then why fight it?

Most recently, a woman text me after 4 dates saying that it was really nice getting to know me, but she didn’t think we’re a good fit for each other, she knows that I’ll find what I’m looking for, and that I’m such a great kisser. I never responded. It was such a shock to me because we were making out at my house the night before and our conversations were going great. Some people said that I should’ve responded politely to end on good terms, while others said I did the right thing by not replying.

Another time, a few years back, a woman rejected me after a couple of dates by texting me she was so sorry, but she wanted to get back with her ex. I never responded, but mutual friends have sent me tweets that she put out about me and most recently she’s been appearing in my suggested on Instagram (does that mean she’s viewing my profile?). In the tweets she’s complained about not getting closure and that she’s had people die without saying bye. I think she has anxiety or something. So why not text/call me again then if you care so much?

Overall, I don’t think it’s worth it. It’s different by doing the rejection in person or via phone call.

Met this girl on a Christian dating app. She only lived 1mile away. She even sent the first message which rarely happens and actually kept th conversation going. We talked for two days off and on. She would go to prayer meets with friends and bible study and therapy. Claimed to have been abused by her ex. Said she stopped being Christian and had sex with him but regretted it and now says that God has forgiven her. She's apparently all about bodily autonomy. Claims to not want kids until after marriage. I honestly don't want kids at all but I told her after marriage because I knew not having kids at all would have been a deal breaker. Long story short, she ends up texting me saying she prayed on it and decided she couldn't trust anyone she met online and that it wouldn't work out between us. I told her I understood but there's still a dull ache. I had asked God if she was the one he held onto for me and to give me a sign. I guess that was the sign. I'm honestly glad though because if being touched triggers her to the point of panic attacks, I don't think it would have been a healthy relationship. Thought Christians weren't supposed to live in fear. Was she a true Christian? Because I don't think she is...

This question is motivated by a small discussion I was having on another site. It has always seemed to be women to me who can't let an old partner go, even though they might talk a lot of big talk about "being done" and moving on, they will still watch an ex on social media or even ask their friends and family about him. It seems like in the beginning they will let go completely and it might even hurt the guy, but later on they're still thinking about him or watching him on social media, even years later when he's in a totally new relationship or absolutely married. And of course, you have a lot of women who can't seem to move on from guys who don't respect or treat them well, and they'll try to hold on to him even when he keeps pushing her away.

I too recently had a family member tell me that one of my exes was asking about me - after all this time! And she was the one who ended things. I have zero interest in reconnecting with her whatsoever, as I have also grown a lot more as a person and a man since that relationship. So I find no value in re-uniting with her.

I am not saying that men never run back to an ex or can't let them go, they do exist. I'm just saying it seems like a bigger thing with women. What do you guys think?
