So there's this woman (let's name her Lilly) who is actually my next door neighbor. She's actually 7 years older than me, lol and she also got a brother who's the same age as me. So talking about Lilly. She's a beautiful woman with a killer smile and a fantastic personality. But like everyone else, she also got her own demons and fair share of past traumas. Even though she struggles with anxiety, adhd and other issues, she's the most resilient and determined woman I've ever seen. A true fighter! She's ambitious, driven and passionate about her work and... Yea... I could actually go on and on but... let's just get to the story.
So around this time last year, we started talking through insta. I mean... I always saw as a sister only tbh. So whenever I'd find some funny reels, I'd send it to her along with my own sister who is actually 10 years older than and also a really good friend of Lilly. Time passed by... sending reels and good night messages kinda became a tradition between us. We bonded really quickly and like she'd say... We vibed! I told myself that I think I got a best friend with whom I can share anything. And she also shared some of her biggest secrets with me too. I was slowly falling for her without even realizing that myself cos in my head I've always limited our relationship to just "friends". Long story short, we both fell in love with each other. We did go through an on and off phase in between cos we didn't want anyone to know about us especially our family members cos we come from different religious and cultural backgrounds plus, the age gap. I know it's 21st century and we should have an open mind and all but we r just afraid of losing our loved ones. I am not seeking validation otherwise, I would have posted a selfie and asked if you thought I was attractive. The truth is that I am not butt ugly and some girls will call me "okay" while others will say they have no attraction to me whatsoever. The reason I still can get girls is because I am okay looking, and some will settle for me. The thing is I am not a 6/10 or above. I am at best, a 5/10, on my best hair day.

The truth is that I persisted anyway, and I tried dating, regardless with optimism. I was cheated on, hit physically and ended up comparing myself with guys that I was left for. Yes, the girls I dated would leave me for other guys all the time. I remember the first time it happened, I cried, and I asked her, "is it because he is more attractive than me?" The girl told me, "Oh, stop. I am not answering that question." I still managed to regain confidence every time, but the same thing always happened. One girl told me, "It is like cars. I won't wash or take care of an ugly car." Because she broke up with me and took the new handsome guy camping with her own money. I asked her why she was treating him so much better than me and she responded with that car comparison. I also do not have a boring personality. I am fun, pretty smart and have a successful path laid out.

It has just been really rough, and I am at the point of just giving up. Maybe it is the girls I am dating? I will mention that I have only ever dated above my league so maybe I should date down instead?

- Average looking face. Probably a 4 or 5 in looks. Easily someone you would NOT find attractive or good looking at all!

- Broke. Only makes around $25,000 a year working full time. May or may not be in university.

- Out of shape. Use your imagination here, but I won't give specifics. Could have a Dad Bod (average-fat), could be stocky/chubby (overweight), or could be obese (290-360 pounds). Take a guess.

- Gamer. Enjoys video games. Plays games about 6 to 9 hours a week. For many, many women, a gamer is a dealbreaker.

- Lonely. Has been alone for a long time (life). Is the same age as you and born in the same year, but has never dated anyone and is currently a virgin.

Black male's experience in college

" Back in college I’ve seen the sexiest Asians just throw themselves heavily at white guys. It was a surreal experience to say the least. I thought I had some sort of favoritism being an exotic, good looking black guy.

I never dated at all in high school, so had no idea what to expect in freshmen year, but I remember the first girls I ever talked to were Asian & they wanted nothing to do with me. I had a white girl that I befriended and at my first big social circle, she was my wing women & everything she told me to say seemed really good. I had no idea how to interact with women myself but the Asian girls still seemed just… indifferent, like they had no reaction to me & it wasn’t fun. Everyone else I encountered freshmen year was extremely social & fun to talk to.

It was probably because they knew I was talking to them with romantic intent & didn’t want to lead me on or had no interest. Then I asked a close white friend and he told me that Asian girls don’t like black guys, they are obsessed with whites, don’t take it personally. Some time later next semester, I got semi close to an Asian girl whose a friend of my best friend.

When we all hung out, she talks about the little things her boyfriend does that she doesn’t like but she gets very gushing about him anyway. Fast forward to sophomore second semester we were all hanging out in the student game room… she reads her phone text & begins crying & runs to the bathroom. My friend and I share a concerned face. Never knew what happened but I thought that this boyfriend must be a real catch. Until I saw his pictures and he was a very chubby, very average or a bit below average white guy. This girl was a 5ft Asian girl with perfect features everywhere, and had a very bubbly, love-able personality. Fast forward 2 years later, they break up.
