I don't support this because "transgender" is about 'gender' which is NOT based upon biological difference between 'sex' ie. visible difference between genitalia. It's about the 'masculinity' or 'femininity' of the person. While, "transrace" is biological thing. The difference between person's race. It is fact, not the person's feelings. It is sheer "identity disorder".
BUT who cares? I think soon there will be BS like "Transcitizenship" where an American will say that he/she was born in Kenya ; "Transorganism" where a person will say that he/she feels like that he/she is a chimpanzee or amoeba.
Gender isn't based on biology? Lol. More than race it is. Someone can be made up of many races. A DNA test will tell you is the person is male or female though, but not race from what I just saw on the news. TransRace is far more believable than transgender.
@Jersey1 - "NOT based upon biological difference between 'sex' ie. visible difference between genitalia." & "Gender isn't based on biology?" are two different statements. Misinterpretation.
I think that lying to the black community about her white background is not ok because if she wants to be in a leadership role in that community and identify with its struggles (I say this as a white person btw), they need to be aware of the reality of her situation. That said, I see nothing wrong with her being an advocate of and accepted by the community as a member, even if she is white. (I know someone from college who is white and accepted among his black friends, is part of black student union groups, etc.)
Also, falsely labeling her ethnicity on a job form seems very unethical for obvious reasons.
As for "trans" labels here - don't want to get into that right now.
"Trans racial" was a term coined by non-white children who were adopted by white parents to describe their experiences with discrimination to people who had never experienced it and therefore couldn't relate.
Race and gender are both social constructs, true, but they're not identical terms with identical meanings. Gender is experienced only on a personal level. Race is experienced as a group, in concert with family, heredity and culture. You can identify as a gender other than that assigned to you at birth without affecting anyone else (because gender is inherently a personal experience). Race doesn't work that way - there are other people involved. To do what Dolezal has done (ie: put in black face) is by nature appropriative and insulting.
I could change my name to Reiko, cover myself in Hello Kitty crap and move to Tokyo, but it still wouldn't make me Japanese.

I do not agree with Rachel's actions, apparently most have not heard the backstory of how she tried to sue Howard University on racial discrimination before becoming a "black woman". Her family came out with the truth after Rachel began receiving racist threats. She became black for profit & now that she fears for her life, she's white again. I hope she's convicted of fraud & forced to pay back all scholarships/grants/funding she received for her education.
I read this and your right. Suing on minute because she's white and then becoming a black woman. She may just have psychological issues such as delusions of persecution and a need to be seen as a victim. She would have a inbuilt need to be at the centre focus of everything which means she is probably happier now than she has ever been now with the huge media storm around her. People like this are actually very dangerous as they have no moral compass and nothing is beyond the pale when it comes to what they want. She should be pitied and forgotten about.
I agree with you on this part, "She would have a inbuilt need to be at the centre focus of everything which means she is probably happier now than she has ever been now with the huge media storm around her. People like this are actually very dangerous as they have no moral compass and nothing is beyond the pale when it comes to what they want."
I however, do not pity her, she knew full well what she was doing & played the system. Sadly, she's using her black adopted sibilings as a guise that she always wanted to be black. There isn't anything psychologically wrong with her, people do things like this all the time, example disability fraud, welfare fraud, federal refund fraud, illegal immigrants stealing identites & social security numbers etc .
This reminds me of all the times I have tutored a Black or Hispanic child who is truly intelligent, yet they were chastised by their peers for being "whitewashed". Those kids often acted stupid to fit in, and many thought being intelligent is a bad thing. This girl claims to identify as black , but she didn't grow up in the culture, she didn't deal with the prejudice, she doesn't have the experiences of being black. The only thing that the color of your skin changes is how people treat you, and this girl did not grow up being treated black. The truth is there is still racism in the world, and you can't just expect to be something different than what you've experienced your entire life.
I don't know the entire story because I'm not American. So I don't know if the girl really see herself as a black person or if she is just an opportunist. Either way, I totally understand the comparaison with Caitlin Jenner. Transexual are being praised for being honest about themselves, being their true self but people can't believe that it can applies to races. I read an article saying that transexual are actually showing who they really are but this woman is just lying.
If you can accept transexual people why can't you accept that a person feel like she belongs to another culture. I just feel like people are just extremely hypocritical about this all thing.
@crayven no, I compared the comparison between homosexuality and pedophilia with the comparison between having a certain gender identity versus having been born in and part of a particular genetic population and sociological minority. The comparison is nonsense.
I find the Bruce Jenner transformation worse than Rachel's. Changing your gender just cuz u feel like it (without being a guevedoche) is dumb. Considering the fact that he felt he's more of a woman, he should've gone to a therapist. As for Rachel.. her story sounds as that of a child's. If she considered herself black when she was younger she should've "matured" (not sure that word exists). So yea, practically, that's just immature of her to say. If she wanted to be black, she should've changed her appearance but not tell everbody "I'm black" when obviously she's not. She could've only said "okay, I'm not black but that's who I wanna be". m
She's in love with scholarships and the feeling of being different, in reality she could give a shit about the African American race, personally if I were an African American I would be offended that a person is willing to exploit my race for personal game, she is no "civil rights hero" just another white yuppie exploiting the African American struggle
She looks black to me or at least mixed with (African ancestry). She's the same complexion as some of my relatives. Her hairtype is strikingly similar also.
Because of surgery, not one thing is natural about this, she and Bruce (whatever the hell his name is) Jenner are one million percent fake, they truly believe just by changing your body you are suddenly a girl or black. They reps all the benefits and receive all the glory of being a minority, or a women yet they never felt with the pain and sacrifice, it's kind of like this "I've always idenified as a Harvard student, so I wear Harvard shirts, so obviously you must treat me a one, even though I never study and have horrible grades it doesn matter I'm a Harvard student" see the danger of this stupid self "identification" bullshit now?
Caitlyn Jenner will never be a woman in my eyes just like this woman will never be black in my eyes. Caitlyn can look like a woman all he wants and feel like a woman all he wants but that doesn't override that his DNA chromosomes that say he's a man. This woman is obviously white and as pointed out by others a fraud and knitpicks her race when it suits her needs. I don't think the two can be compared though. These 2 situations are different in my eyes though.
Okay, let's clear this up once and for all. Rachel is being offensive because she is appropriating a culture. She became a Spokane of NAACP by lying. She could of advocated civil rights etc as a white person but she felt the need to make a fool of NAACP. She even stole someone's painting of a slave ship and slightly adjusted it To make it her own. How is this NOT offensive? Caitlyn Jenner became a female. She wasn't appropriating any cultures while she did that. There is a HUGE difference between Rachel and Caitlin. CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. These made up words like "transracial" are utterly ridiculous. She's just trying to save her ass because she humiliated herself in an interview and was caught red handed. I doubt hiring actors to play your parents and children is "identifying as black".
Also, she still benefits from white privilege because 1) she is clearly white and 2) everyone knows it. How come she gets to pick and choose what parts of the African-American culture she wants? She is not black and never will be.
I support Caitlyn Jenner and Rachel Dolezal but I definitely don't associate them the same way. Being a woman is a lifestyle (in the conventional sense, you can be a woman and not necessarily feminine), the way you act, dress, etc. Being black is a physical trait. As a black person, I hate when people say that "acting black" is a thing. It's not. There are black people that identify more with white people and vise versa. I support Rachel Dolezal in her wanting to look as though she has dark skin and curly hair; that's not a crime. She should not have, on the other, lied about it to her job. You don't have to be black to support black rights and be apart of the NAACP. She should have just told the truth.
Caitlin Jenner is not the head of a woman's right organization and teaching classes and talking about how struggle as a woman.
Nor did she pose as a woman to recieve scholarships from women's colleges and take money from a woman who actually had that struggle of being a underprivileged woman.
If you make the comparison, it seems tat Rachel Dolezal is using transgendered women to justify her unjust and evil pyschotic behavior. Which is disrespectful to the people, trans women and actually black women especially.
If BRUCE Jenner can decide HE is no longer male, anyone can basically decide they are whatever they want to be. We say he is a hero for this, yet bash her. I believe their both wrong but if we're going to praise one we better be prepared to praise all the rest. It's ridiculous that Rachel Dolezal did that, but no more ridiculous than a man deciding he is now a woman because he "feels like it".
nt care ho a person chooses to dress or there stage name it is not ok to lie to a bunch of people about acts of terror you create to on yourself, forcing your adopted brother to act like your son, and become a president. no one has to accept anything because they are not the same. One is a upstanding citizen. one is a thief and liar and trying to justify her lies and successfully conned people to thinking it was the same as transgendered, You can't get African American hormones and lineage injected to you but you can get female hormones. she's a great manipulator and has people actually arguing about it.
You can have your opinion, and I can have mine. I dont feel combative and find it rude and immature of you to bash my opinion with your own opinion. You to not understand you can gentically become a woman and you can't genetically become a culture your just born with it. she used stereotypes to create her persona annd lied about her background.
Rachel Dolezal provided membership growth and financial improvement for the region of the NAACP that she presided over. Her "cabinet" members have come forward and said that ethnicity is not required criteria. They were in total support of her. Because of how the media inflames and echoes unfounded crap, the pressure was created. National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Caucasoids are definitely colored. From Pinkish to Brownish. So because of melanin production in skin cells, when we are exposed to the sun, the skin darkens to protect against UV radiation and absorbs vitamin D, we're going to say someone is going 'black-face'? Next, they'll say Negroid Gingers can't be in the NAACP because of their freckles. Homo Sapiens originated in Africa, then we interbred with other hominids and adapted to the sunlight away from the equator.
Hell with media and their distortion of skin pigment prerequisites.
There's a significant difference between being transgender and being a white person who is born in a seat of privilege where they benefit from the brokenness of African Americans and Native Americans yet feeling like 'black person'. They are two entirely different things. It doesn't matter how 'black' she felt. The reality is that she looked like a little white girl from 'Little House on the Prairie' therefore, SHE WAS PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE OF HAVING THE African American EXPERIENCE. Not only that, but she LIED ON APPLICATIONS WHICH IS FRAUD. It's not illegal by law to lie about your gender.
It's not about race; it's about a lying, narcissistic female LYING ABOUT RACE TO FACILITATE PERSONAL GAIN.
This is the most fucking stupid thing i have ever read? xD. How does having black skin make you a different person? ''Identifies herself as black'' is just a way of saying she's a white chick who wishes she had black skin? Fucking stupid, Not even knewsworthy.
They are both abominations, i dont support either of them at all Its one thing to identify with a culture or feel close to it, its another to claim something you aren't I personally think they are both so wrong for what they are doing, trying to become something you aren't, its playing god almost i dont like this world we love in
In the wake of controversy over Ms. Dolezal’s ethnic heritage, I fear a larger issue has been lost. This woman has worked very hard to advance the position of African Americans and proven that Euro-Americans are not always an impediment to progress. Some people are capable of seeing and acting on a viewpoint that does not necessarily offer them an advantage.
While it is regrettable that she misrepresented her origins, it is even more unfortunate that she felt the need to. Why must pale skinned people stand aside in the fight to free their darker brothers and sisters? Doesn’t her work speak for itself?
I believe that being transgender is real and I support them, I don't think it's natural and I sometimes think that something may be psychologically wrong but it's their life and that's what they need then they should do as they please to be happy. As far as being "transracial" I think it's ridiculous. It makes sense to feel that you personally relate with another ethnicity but to believe that you actually are is a bit much to me. I'm not angry. (By the way, I am African American) I just don't appreciate or approve of her lying on applications and saying she is black when she is not, that is a lie. That's where I draw the line.
I think what's great about this is the fact that it shows us how little race should matter. Someone's sexuality doesn't matter because they can be whatever they want whenever they want. If I could be gay tomorrow then it's not that big deal. It's only when we tell people that they're forced into a box and can't get out, that they start caring when people try to escape the box. Maybe if race wasn't something your borrn with and anyone could be like you being X or being Y wouldn't be such a big deal. Once we start breaking down this barrier that all races are separate then maybe the race relations around the world can start to improve.
I'm only really annoyed thy she lie on an official document. Besides that I don't care that she identifies as black.

Next thing you know I'm not a 29 years old european man, I'm a 18 years old Chinese female, because that's how "FEEL".
Respect my feelings, and give me the Chinese passport, the access to female toilets, and discount cards for people between 18-25 years old. Let's go.
