Rachel Dolezal, a White Woman, Says She Identifies “As Black”

Former president of the Spokane, Washington NAACP chapter Rachel Dolezal has broken her silence. If you don't know her story*, Rachel is the who woman told people that she is black (not African-American) for years. In January she was promoted to president of the Spokane, Washington, chapter of the NAACP. Last week her parents told the media that Rachel is "white of European descent." That's when everything hit the fan. Rachel eventually (yesterday) resigned as president and addressed the story on national TV: “I identify as black.”

The internet quickly started comparing Rachel's transition to Caitlyn Jenner's. If Caitlyn can change from male to female because she insists that gender is a construct, then why can't Rachel switch from white to black?

If I may gleefully twirl my mustache and flex my Evil White Man muscles, I would like to venture that yes, these two episodes are directly comparable. Both Jenner and Dolezal were born as one kind of person and wanted to be something else, with physically observable results. It is my contention that J and D prove the same point on two different axes (sex and race) and that point is this:

Privilege is not where you think it is.

Jenner, upon becoming a "woman", immediately lit into Kris about how he'd been treated as a man. Dolezal sued Howard University for holding her whiteness against her before she conceived the idea of pretending to be black. It is my guess that both of them decided to "transform" because they felt oppressed as "man" and "white"... and they were right. The original, root cause of their shared decision is a dissatisfaction with their social status, not with their physical bodies. Physical transformation is for them a means to an end, and that end is respect. Just as Michael Jackson carved his nose and straightened his hair, so Bruce Jenner carved his penis and Rachel Dolezal curled her hair. Jackson (probably unconsciously) sought the respect of his father, who had relentlessly mocked his natural looks. Jenner and Dolezal sought the respect of public society, which relentlessly mocks men and whites.

The chattering classes celebrate Jenner because his desire to be a woman falls in lockstep with the LGBTQ coalition as a moral battering ram and thus is politically convenient... for the moment. The minute he ceases to be convenient, he will be dust in the vacuum bag. As for Dolezal... her trans-racial gig threatens to put a permanent dent in the cherished assumption that a white person can *never* know what it's like to be black and therefore there is no "poor me" bluff that a white person can call without being racist. In terms of rhetoric and emotion, she is the ghost of Homer Plessy coming to kick the modern, more segregationist "civil rights" movement in its wiggling upraised butt. In short, the only significant difference between Jenner and Dolezal is that Jenner is a convenient tool for the self-appointed Powers that Be and Dolezal is not. Divorce them from politics and the two are virtually identical.

I, and quite a few others, think it is not something normal, but a mental disorder. The said huge suicide rates among transitioned transgender surely have partly to do with the discrimination, but even more so with these people being mentally ill.

These people suffer from an identity disorder and being someone else, at least physically, seems for them to be the easy way out. It's the mindset of the grass is always greener on the other side.
It is the futile attempt of being different than who you are already on a biological basis. Reality though is that you are either a man or a woman - bar the few exceptions who have XXY or XYY chromosome and some other rare genetical mutations. Being biologically a man or a woman doesn't mean that all men display only masculine and all women display only feminine behaviour. That there are grey zones inbetween should be common sense.

The problem these days though is that people demand they are whatever gender they wish to be, including tons of made up genders (i. e. otherkins and the likes). This has nothing to do with being mentally healthy, but is at best attention-seeking and at worst a serious mental issue based on self-hate, lacking grasp of reality, cognitive dissonances and/or body integrity identity disorder imbedded in the hope that their mental health becomes better upon reaching the other side.

And in all honesty, for most TGs you can still see the men and it's offputting to a lot of people. Just that barely anyone dares to speak it out, because political correctness is the modern way of censorship and the majority of people are nice enough to not say it.

The very same accounts for transracial. These people just lack a grip of reality and have identity issues. Treating this sutff like it is legit will put out more harm than it can help.

We are born a certain way. Though we can certainly cover up what we dont like via cosmetics or through a more permeant change such as surgery, we can't change the fact that our genes won't acknowledge our unrealistic fantasy. It's a hard realistic truth to face when your child is born with different features from your fake ones OR when your only available option is to adopt, because you were born with a penis.

Michael Jackson was born black and became the best singer/dancer. Later he surgically changed his skin tone to white- was he actually white? No, but he had white looking skin! He got what he wanted and you know what? He was still Michael Jackson.

Bruce Jenner was born a male, was a very successful athlete, married a beautiful woman and had beautiful children. Later he surgically got a boob job and cosmetically became a female- is he actually a female? No, but he looks like a female! He got what he wanted and you know what? He is now Caitlin Jenner, nonetheless still a Jenner, but has categorized herself.

Skin, gender, hair, eyes, teeth, fat, etc... All of these are things are physically viewed by others to identify you as an independent being from the rest of society, to display what kind of person you are or want to be and can all be changed cosmetically/surgically. Looks ARE important. By simply changing them you're only categorizing yourself.

If someone wants to identify as being something that they're not, you dont have to agree with it, but its healthy to just accept it as it is. Our job isn't to control everyone else except ourselves.

In a "free" country such as America and anywhere around the world, your identity is your choice. Out of respect we accept how people want to be identified and we try to understand that these people whom change their identities aren't trying to make you look like a fool by tricking you. They dont do it so you can hate them, they do it so they can love and accept themselves.

We all feel lonely, lost, and hate everything at least once in our lives. Some people handle it differently, but we all have a different path in life. No one can say whats right or wrong for the other person.

But that is just my opinion.

My issue with her is that she lied. She lied a lot. She asked her adopted brother to lie for her. And for what? She could have done all of her civil rights work as a white woman. Perhaps I've been exposed to Tumblr too much. But when you are in oppression-based SJW groups, you basically get people who are one of these:

Another thing to consider is that the cultural separation of races is purely sociological. You can't feel like you are black because you feel better "acting black". That is simply a racial stereotype, often even specific to the US. For instance, go find a black person in France. They probably won't act anything like you do, and you probably won't be able to tell them apart from any other French person if you couldn't see their skin color. And that's the point. If we couldn't see skin color, people wouldn't act different based on skin color.

However, there actually IS a disconnect between biological sex and mental gender. If we couldn't see biological sex, we would still see gender differences, and most of these differences would be associated with the biological sex. The outliers are said to be transgender.

And you can't "mentally identify" as a skin color. My hair is naturally blonde, but I can't make you call me a natural redhead if I decided to identify as one.

From what I can tell, it seems like the biggest issue here was that she lied on official documents in order to receive benefits that were meant for people who did not have the same privileges that she did growing up. Its comparable to say one of Warren Buffet's children lying about their family income status to get need-based scholarships. This is not the same as being transgender. And as many people have pointed out, she's a hypocrite. She's white when it benefits her, and then pretends to be black when it benefits her. She still benefits from white privilege, you can't do that as a black person. Being transgender is way more serious than this, since transgender people are serious about their transition and don't want to go back. They actually FEEL that they were born in the wrong body, there's no questioning it. They don't want to be ANYONE else. But this woman has no problem shifting between being white and being "black". Chromosomal sex is fixed. Gender roles have been observed time and again in populations of children who were not given any sort of prior clues what they were supposed to be. Every child that deviates (very few of them) has some underlying problem. Usually, it has to do with feelings of inadequacy, but sometimes a more serious ailment.

How do you say there is 0 occasions when it happens all the time? I have seen plenty of people who act and try to look black and claim being black. She was only exposed because of her position and occupation.

She's physically changing her appearance to make herself black and then claiming she's black when she's NOT.

Acting black is when you see black people and you dress, speak, and look the part. That is acting black. Caitlyn Jenner Physically changed their appearance to make themselves a woman and claims she is a woman when she is not. So I don't get how you accept that but not Rachel. It's the same thing.

I think the difference between Caitlyn Jenner and Rachel Dolezal is simple... Rachel lied, Bruce/Caitlyn didn't. People don't like being lied to, they don't like being decieved, they don't like being made out to be fools. If she had applied for that position, looking just as black as she looks currently, but being honest on her application about her ancestry, would she have gotten the job? We will never know. What we do know is that she did not tell the truth, and that is what makes people angry. End of story.
