Former president of the Spokane, Washington NAACP chapter Rachel Dolezal has broken her silence. If you don't know her story*, Rachel is the who woman told people that she is black (not African-American) for years. In January she was promoted to president of the Spokane, Washington, chapter of the NAACP. Last week her parents told the media that Rachel is "white of European descent." That's when everything hit the fan. Rachel eventually (yesterday) resigned as president and addressed the story on national TV: “I identify as black.”
*This is just a condensed version of the story. Read the full story with all the details here.
The internet quickly started comparing Rachel's transition to Caitlyn Jenner's. If Caitlyn can change from male to female because she insists that gender is a construct, then why can't Rachel switch from white to black?
The internet agrees.
Everyone is quick to celebrate Bruce Jenner's transition to Caitlyn but Rachel Dolezal expresses her identity as black and people are pissed

#RachelDolezal is no different than #CaitlynJenner These are people "feeling" they are something they are NOT, biologically. #reality

So it's ok for a Bruce Jenner to become a #CaitlynJenner but it's not ok for a white woman to embrace a different culture? #RachelDolezal

It's okay for #CaitlynJenner to be who he/she says he/she wants to be. But it's not okay for #RachelDolezal to do the same. Hmm, Liberals...

Okay okay, hold up. You can't congratulate Caitlyn Jenner and then be pissed off about Rachel Dolezal calling herself a black woman. Stop.

Not to trivialize, but how is #RachelDolezal's feelings any different than #CaitlynJenner? Both we're born one way and feel another?

Rachel Dolezal is no different than Caitlyn Jenner. Having outrage over one and not the other makes you a hypocrite.

Caitlyn Jenner was celebrated but Rachel Dolezal is being attacked.. She's clearly not black, but she's not doing us any harm.

If you preach acceptance, BE ACCEPTING. If it's okay for Caitlyn Jenner to be a woman, it should be okay for #RachelDolezal to be herself...

People are born their gender and race but thanks to modern technology you can change both. #Transracial #RachelDolezal #CaitlynJenner

What are your thoughts, GAGers? Can these two things (transgender and "transracial") even be compared? #RachelDolezal
