To be fair he's got a point, for reference I'm white, but the entire history if the word is based in slavery, not just abusing black people but industrialising the exploitation and abuse of an entire race. As a white person I know I'll probably never really grasp the connotations of the word, but that doesn't mean they don't exist, surely the decent thing to do is to not voice an opinion without truly understanding, something a white person, a race never methodically subjugated, cannot understand.
The other thing i've noticed, that would definitely piss me off if I was black, is when white people claim racism. Sure, something may offend you because you're white, but it's just whiny and immature to compare someone getting slightly offended by a racially driven comment and having the systematic, long lasting limitations based on race
If you dont want white people to use it, stop using it yourselves. It can't be that offenseive that a black person so freely uses it in casual converstaion, to address their friends and in songs, and if it is then why use it at all... I dont hear gay people calling each other fag or homo. And i've been around a lot of them. What makes you so special?
Damn, You picked the blackest dude you could find! He makes Wesley Snipes look light skinned :P And i have no answers for you, But everyone not white should stop using white boy/girl. It's lame and offensive lol Check your privilege.
I dont really see the point in saying it nor do I "want" to say it. I just think its makes you looks silly when you make it out to be the worst word you could ever say and lose your minds whenever someone else says it yet at the same time you use it as frequently as you use the word "the".
15 years ago that word was dead. Rap music and black culture brought it back. If blacks don't want it used, then they shouldn't use it at all. No, they don't get a pass. No, they don't have a special right. No, just no.
We will never stop using the N word because it is thrown around in hip/hop culture all the time, racial slurs will likely never go away, I'm Jewish and have gotten called some fucked up words, you have to learn to deal with it because I will likely never go away.

I had to pop a this white boy in the mouth for saying it. You better not get too comfortable. That word coming from a white person will never be okay. Thanks for this op.
Yes, you know my question is how they dont get that after using it for 400 years to degrade, rape, and beat people to death and then say theyre sorry and it wasn't any of there ancestors (so we magically showed up) and then they complain that they can't use a varietion of the word they used to mass murder and enslave and still now dehuminize us. They can't give us reperations, give us the money our ancestors deserve to be paid, and instead arrest and kill at record numbers and dehumanize and mock us every single chance they have, for bodies, being 'ghetto'(what does not allowing people education for 350+ years while beating the shit out of them and placing them on crap land and not allowing them to purchase business or loans after the depression do? create princesses? where is white logic?) and want to call us a variation of the same thing their ancestors used to do all of it? I heard a white kid say it once at dinner at a bar and i regret not throwing my drink on him. next time.
that word is almost to the same effect as dude, man, bro, etc. we live in a completely different era now.. so if you want black - white racism to continue, this is one of the things you have to let go of. you want racism to continue? ok fine, mark territory over words
I had a black friend who was lovingly called sugarbrownie (roughly translated) by all his friends. He didn't mind, the guys all pretty much communicated through insults anyways. His younger brother never got called that since he wasn't the type to be amused by it. Both were nice guys. I really dont see the problem in calling eacg other names if everyone is fine with it.
"Whether you think it's offensive or not, if you're not black what you think doesn't matter." Hey, as a white person I am supposed to have all the power here, at least that is what I hear from those who talk about "white privilege." My opinion is supposed to be ALL that matters.
Well in old African languages the n-word is derieved from a word that means old king, and it was eventually the white colonialists which gave it a negative meaning for their own use... though I agree if someone is getting offended by it no race whether white, black, Indian, latino, Asian should use it
Thats actually true^ but I think its the only reprecussion or animosity that white get because of slavery and them making it negative. As a African American it sounds bad coming out of a white persons mouth for this reason or gross. Especially with the pretending slaver didn't happen and they dont benefit from it. These things lead African americans to use it as a reminder, and to not most of the time let it slide when white people say it. I think those with no regard to their history, or are dying ot impress or fit in dont get offended, because they dont have any reason to be. Like, no respect for their culture. Just watch
@Originali-tea I am not referring to myself using the "N-word" I'm just saying; What is good for one is good for all. You can't be a hypocrite about this... How can you tell me to "stop drinking" if you do the exact same thing
Racism is not merely just discrimination based on race. It's the systematic oppression of an entire race. Not being able to use the n word is not racism. Have your race getting targeted by police is racism. Getting suspended from school for the natural state of your hair is racism. Getting denied jobs and houses for expressing your culture is racism. Having politicians threatening to kick you out of the country for your race is racism. White people are the most privileged. They're at the top. That's how it's been in the past, and that's how it is today. So, when black people finally decide they're done with being mistreated like that, everyone gets pissed off, and suddenly black people are racist and hypocritical? And it's not just white people who can't use the word. It's anyone who isn't black. Black people have had the word used against them for a long time. They decide what they wanna do with it.
@Originali-tea no, racism is literally discrimination based on race. You don't get to redefine words.
Two wrongs don't make a right, so I don't see how it's okay for black people to use the word, either. Isn't it always bad, no matter who says it? And "their word"? I don't think words can have ownership.
This whole "racism = power + discrimination" thing, is for total losers who would rather blame society for being a total loser, than admit that maybe, just maybe, the problem is on their end.
But sure, keep bawling your eyes out on random sites about how oppressed you are, instead of actually going out there and putting an end to the alleged oppression! Come back once your words match your actions, hypocrite.
Just can't stop laughing, the hypocrisy is killing me. I'm white so i'm going to go around calling everyone crackers now but if you say it i'm going to be offended.
I get there's a difference, my point was I just don't think anyone should be using it because like you say the "N word" has a negative background to it, so why would it be acceptable to use at all. Words have meaning for a reason.
I get what you're saying, I understand it, I just don't agree with it lol
Have you or your ancestors been beaten and oppressed with that name? Was cracker the only thing black people referred you to? Were you dehumanized by that word? Does cracker have a history of pain and oppression and suffering? Stop acting like cracker is the equivalent of the n word. Black people have been oppressed by that word for a long time. They decide what they wanna do with it. Your opinion is irrelevant.
Although I agree it's vulgar and has racist connotations, why is it that only white people can't say it? If it's so inflammatory to the black community than why is it socially acceptable for other blacks to use the word? Why are latinos like Fat Joe and arabs like DJ Khaled and French Montana allowed to say it? The Arab slave trade was just as horrible as the European slave trade. That being said I would never say it because of the racist connotations.
Anyone can technically say whatever they want. People shouldn't say offensive terms for their own sake if nothing else. They're socially frowned upon and it makes you come off as uncouth, insensitive and unintelligent to say it.
If white people have used the word to oppress black people, why should they be allowed to use it? It's not just a word. It has a history of pain and suffering. It's taken a long time for black people to finally stand up and decide they don't want to be defined by that kind of word. Reclaiming the word has given black people the strength to start coming together and uniting. Because society has always tried to divide them. And of course, anyone who's a non black POC shouldn't be using it either, since they'll never truly understand the meaning behind it.
I personally don't think that anyone should say it, white or not. You can't really expect a certain group of people not to say something that isn't condemned within another group. If it really bothers you that much, you won't say it either and you won't make excuses for people to say it just because of their skin color.

I am trying to convince myself how the fuck that is not racist
obviously i'm referring to this topic when i say that

all of my gay friends call eachother fags
They really do. My brother calls other gay people faggot all the time and makes fun of them acting flamboyant all the same.
@myTake Owner
And that's stupid.

Some people get really angry when you cal them cr[censored]r.
www.voedingswaardetabel.nl/.../crackerlight.jpg
Not because it's an insult, but because they decided not to accept the [Saltine or Ritz] word even if it's merited, describing a chosen attitude.
The N-word is insulting. Some GaG mods consider the [Saltine or Ritz] word now to be an insult too.
Southern revenge?
@jacquesvol Lol cracker doesn't mean the food.
@Cookies_AndMilk
I know but it's forbidden to use it otherwise on Gag
@jacquesvol Ahh yes, this is true. In that case: www.google.com/url
Now no one will be offended xD

White people love control and power... if they aren't allowed to have any control or power they get Mad and start throwing fits
Why do whilte folks want to say the Nword in the first place anyways... What will they gain... power LOL
"Do as I say not as I do"
So you can but white people cant?
If it's offensive people should just stop saying it period.

I'm not even going to remotely touch this argument. I'm just going to leave this here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUQrwXdw1jwHow about no one uses the word?
"Hurr durr only black people use this word!!" is still racist.
Perhaps you should grow some thicker skin, asker.
Do you even know what racism is?
@Originali-tea yes, I do.
Claiming that white people cannot use a certain word, but black people can? That's racist. It's literally discrimination based on race.
Racism is not merely just discrimination based on race. It's the systematic oppression of an entire race. Not being able to use the n word is not racism. lol i've heard that has caused many fights.
The word cracker has really got no background to it at all
I get there's a difference, my point was I just don't think anyone should be using it because like you say the "N word" has a negative background to it, so why would it be acceptable to use at all. Words have meaning for a reason.

I don't say it and neither should black people. Enough with the double standards. Either it's derogatory or it's not. You don't get it both ways.
black people reclaimed the slur for themselves. It's now used in a more positive way. Just like women reclaimed the word 'hoe.'
Like I said @Originali-tea either it's derogatory or not. Same goes for the word hoe. If it's fine for some it's fine for all.
If white people have used the word to oppress black people, why should they be allowed to use it? It's not just a word. It has a history of pain and suffering. It's taken a long time for black people to finally stand up and decide they don't want to be defined by that kind of word.
