By definition "In social psychology, a stereotype is a thought that can be adopted about specific types of individuals or certain ways of doing things. These thoughts or beliefs may or may not accurately reflect reality. However, this is only a fundamental psychological definition of a stereotype."
People tend to break through those stereotypes, to provoke and make a statement, to show individuality and personality.
Truth is, I think breaking through stereotypes is belonging to another stereotype because it is expected.
When an art student dyes her hair purple or goes alternative it is accepted yet even expected of her.
Yet I rarely see a med student or business man doing so.
So eventually this girl is following another stereotype "breaking a stereotype", which makes it mundane, lame.
I mean you don't have to belong to a group, follow a certain philosophy to find yourself in them.
You don't have to be one or either. Maybe you want to be all....
I think now breaking the norms and standing out is being your own individual since every individual is unique.
We are ever growing, on constant morphosis...
So why refrain ourselves in a labeled box? when this box can take so much different forms xD
