The World At Large: Four Things I Just Don't Understand

Everybody has a different way of thinking, a different way of seeing things in their life and in the world. I'm one of those people. I must be an outside of the box thinker or something because there's just some things I can't understand. Now, when ever I write stuff like this people tend to twist my words and I usually get a lot from negative feedback from people.

So, I'd like to state for the record now, that I'm simply a common sense and logic person. I look at things from a different perspective, hence why there's so much confusion for me. So, this take is simply about the things that confuse me and how things seem to me, doesn't mean that's how they are. I imagine people will disagree with some of the things I say and that's totally fine with me, all ask is that you do in a tactful manner and aren't rude or insulting about it. That would be much appreciated, thank you.

So, with that in mind let's get started.

1. I don't understand why people think working out and eating right, means you are in fact 100% healthy.

The World At Large: Four Things I Just Don't Understand

This is kind of one of my pet peeves, I know you can't stop people from assuming things but I think it's insane to assume that thin and fit means completely healthy. Look, I think it's great if someone is committed to working out and eating right, that's great and more power to them but to assume that a lifestyle like that somehow grants you immunity to medical problems be them major or minor, is insane.

Nobody walks around with their medical chart around their neck, so how do you know that guy/girl you see at the gym everyday wasn't born with a heart condition they have to monitor for the rest of their life? What makes someone so sure that because of how they look and how they live their life, they either don't have any health problems or are guaranteed to never get any minor or major health problems down the line? Why do people assume that and how do they know that?

2. I don't understand why someone assumes that one is overweight it's by choice.

The World At Large: Four Things I Just Don't Understand

This one kind of goes with the one above, I'll never understand why people assume someone being overweight is personal life choice. There's a gazillion reasons for one to gain weight, just like there's a gazillion reasons for one to lose a bunch of weight. So, how can anybody look at someone and assume they know the reasons why they are the size they are (be it over or under weight)? Considering how overweight people are not very accepted in this world, do you really think someone would want to weight 500 lbs by choice?

3. I don't understand why people assume because you look a certain way or live your life a certain way, that you're not putting in effort to change it for the better.

The World At Large: Four Things I Just Don't Understand

My life is not like most peoples live are, for the age that I am and there are reasons for that. However, those reasons don't matter. What matters is how people look at me when I tell them I've never really had a job, that I don't drive, that I've never had relationship etc etc. I know people assume I'm lazy or I don't try but I do try everyday to better myself and my life but change is a sprint not a race. It takes time to make a change and to see a change happen. People seem to think life is as simple as snapping your fingers together and making it happen, you want a job just snap your fingers together and you'll have one. You want to lose weight, just snap your fingers together and all that weight will be gone. You want to find the love of your life, just snap your fingers together and it will happen.

Gee, wouldn't it be great if a wonderful life was just a finger snap away? Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way and people have to quit thinking that it does. Jobs are hard to come by, weight is hard to lose and true love isn't easy to find. However, just because it's hard doesn't mean people wanting those things aren't working their asses off to achieve those goals. So, why do people assume they are not trying? How do you know that they aren't? And, why do you want to make life seem a lot simpler than it actually is?

4. Why does it seem like women contemplate the fact that they are a woman?

This isn't so much something I don't understand, as much as it is the way it seems to me from an observer stand point. I read a lot of takes on here from women about feminism, why men should pay for dates etc etc. So, it just seems like they put a lot of time in effort into thinking about the gender they are and how they should be entitled to this or shouldn't have to pay for that or how this is unfair or that's unfair. It just seems like they put a lot of thought and energy into it, which is hard for me to understand.

I know I'm a woman but I don't think about it ever, I got so many other things in my life to worry and focus on, that wage gaps and who pays for a date just isn't a thought priority for me. If I want to improve my life and make the changes I need to make, I can't spend time focusing on things (that for me) really don't matter and I don't actually care about. That's just me though. So, does anyone else ever get the feeling that women put too much thought into the fact they are women or am I the only one?

Well, this concludes my take on things I don't understand. Thanks for reading.
