I thought a part of it was because of situations like the Tower shooting. The police weren't equipped to handle it and a lot of people died because of that.

Cool article. I'm just starting to learn more about firearms (bought my S&W 38 special a few months ago) and I want to get a AR-15 before hillary bans them.
Which isn't a bad idea, the only problem is if the terrorists acquire body armor. This will lead to a situation where the pistol rounds of the SMG's can't penetrate. However, in Belgium they also have Arms manufacturer Fabrique Nationale (FN), who make this brilliant little armor-piercing SMG: www.fnherstal.com/.../p90_std_d_500px.png
@jacquesvol in Belgium? I have just seen some sub machine gun during the lokerse feesten thats all. And concrete blocks against trucks driving through.
@dudeman Not in North America. Indians were by and large nomads, with temporary settlements. There was nothing in terms of a state. The first state created in North America was the USA, which was created and built by white settlers. America is a white project. One can say that it was bad that Indians were squeezed out from the lands they inhabited, but that doesn't change the identity of the USA as a thoroughly white project, with white culture, institutions, government, judiciary, population... It was built by whites, in their own image, and for themselves. When Turks conquered Byzantium, they did the same thing. When Arabs conquered land, they did the same thing. There is nothing unique about white colonization of America, except, perhaps, the fact that from their perspective, they didn't feel they were conquering land. When Turks colonized Byzantium, they took over huge cities. In North America there was nothing in terms of infrastructure.
@dudeman They did not. There was absolutely nothing in terms of states in the modern sense. There was no bureaucracy or infrastructure. There were no roads or cities. South America had all that, but North America did not.
Yes, @dudeman and I REALLY do not get along but he is completely right actually, Contemporary archeology findings have shown that there were in fact more native americans that Europeans till a disease swept through the continent, Saint-louis missouri has been found to have at one point been a massive city
@jacquesvol you should really check those out, they are truly a fascinating read, We don't give the American Indians enough credit, If that plague hadn't wiped them out, I'm pretty sure that history would have gone the other way
yes, and the democrats are dying to make the USA look just like other countries who have been third world for what, 1000 years. I believe our children will see the day where relative security to walk around, clean water and working sewage can no longer be taken for granted. Its already happening
@plinkett AMERICA was NOT white. It was Native American. The USA was white from start. First a Spanish-British-British group of colonies. First the British, later the USA got rid of the native population and of the other colonizing countries, by military means (and by spreading smallpox among native tribes)
@jacquesvol I will also add that despite being not as well armed, and being shit on all the time. The American Indians put up a HELL of a fight for their homes. The last of the Indian Wars wasn't finished till 1923 If it wasn't for disease, this would still be their continent
@jacquesvol The smallpox blanket thing was a VERY tiny portion of the Native Americans who died of disease. Most died from diseases spread out from the first settlements, often before they ever saw a white man.
@Waffles731 No, even without disease they didn't have a chance. They were never a cohesive force. The only way they could have won is to wipe out the first colonies so that the Europeans just gave up. And many fought on the side of the colonists. The Spanish had a lot of help in defeating the Aztecs, who were hated by many neighboring groups.

Cuz local departments are buying military surplus on the cheap.
You actually do get police discounts on rifles, as my police officer bud told me.
I read that too. And it goes for armoured army vehicles too.
I want them to load up with whatever they need to keep my family safe from criminals
@jacquesvol good, if they need armor to take out murderers and rapists, I will donate to it
Because...

In Belgium the police carries submachine guns because of elevated terrorist activity.

Yes i know, but the police doesn't use these.
@front2back I know the P90 5.7 (never fired one) I heard Houston PD uses some.
@jacquesvol i like its unique system to place rounds in the chamber.
POSA (swat) teams are armed with
sniper rifles
Glock 17
FN 303
FN SCAR
Heckler & Koch HK69
Heckler & Koch MP5
Heckler & Koch UMP
FN P90
Remington 870
Sako TRG-21
Other cops carry 9mm pistols
Soldiers too patrol the streets, armed with CAL carbines and similar.
The Belgian POSA uses some P90

Cuz bad guys have rifles. What's the purpose of this here?
I thought this was going to be a gun hating mytake. Happy that it wasn't.
wdt do rifes have to do with gag if i may ask? rifles, bullets, handguns... wtf?
Because for my takes you're allowed to post whatever you want and this is a question I've seen a lot all over ten Internet
Carry whatever tilts the odds in the police's favor.
we are outgunned by the criminals. we need to be 1 step ahead.
They have less collateral damage then a shotgun...
Exactly. That's why they use hollow point pistol rounds as well, so it has less of a Vance of not hitting the intended target.
Most all agencies carry an ar15 in their cruiser.
They need rifles because men with rifles are sexy.
It's not common, they usually carry handguns.
to shoot people from long range... duuuh...
Because it's no longer a white country.
@plinkett
Explain, please. It's no longer Native American country.
@jacquesvol It never was a Native American country. The Founding Fathers were white, remember?
there were nations here with cities before whites

yes in north America. many indian nations had constitutions as well.
clearly you have a limited knowledge of the history you speak of.
@dudeman They did not. There was absolutely nothing in terms of states in the modern sense. There was no bureaucracy or infrastructure. There were no roads or cities. South America had all that, but North America did not.

@Waffles731 a disease like smallpox, spread through infected blankets?
@jacquesvol
No, this was much earlier than that
@jacquesvol

www.pbs.org/gunsgermssteel/variables/smallpox.html
Smallpox and other eurasian diseases killed a fuckload of people, it was probably done by accident by earlier explorers and the settlers at jamestown

@plinkett This is precolumbian: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cahokia
throughout the west are dozens of historic pueblos, some of which date back for centuries. These Pre-Columbian towns and villages, which are primarily located in the American Southwest, were often situated in defensive positions on high mesas, cliffs, and in canyons.
