A response to this aggressive feminist and/or troll who asked the question "Americans - and Americans ONLY - why do you own a gun?" They erased my comment because it was popular and because it countered all their points. So here it is again. Thank you, Typio Form Recovery!

1. Because bad guys own a gun. Several, in fact.

2. Because burglars and robbers exist. Not all of them are "bad guys," but that's irrelevant.

3. Because not all of us live in a gated, upper middle class safe community.

4. Because not all of us are 6'5" and 250 pounds of muscle with 16% body fat that can intimidate our way into feeling safe our entire lives.

5. Because hunting is a thing.

6. Because the military is a thing.

7. Because BLM riots where the police don't show up, are a thing. And rapists and felons who try to kill young men that the mainstream media cover for, while villainizing the one who shot them in self-defense.

8. Because guns ARE bad-ass and make you feel more confident knowing you could protect yourself and family, if need be, while you're at the shooting range.

9. Because gun ownership isn't something any American NEEDS to explain to a non-American who "doesn't get it" all while their own government f*cks them over six ways from Sunday and they take it with a smile because they can't do sh*t about it. Like most of Europe. And Canada. And Australia. And...

10. And most importantly. Because the government is less likely to f*ck with an entire population of gun-owning citizens. There's a REASON it's the second-amendment in America, something people ignorant of history, ancient and modern, have no clue about.

How do you think Communist China became Communist 80 years ago? "Mao took our guns." What do you think happens to every asshole American politician who tries to go hard on taking away gun rights? I've said a thousand times before, but the people who oppose gun ownership the most are the people least qualified to protect anyone from anything, including themselves. They don't understand it because they never have to be in a position to look after lives when sh*t goes down. Which is also why most anti-gun people are small women and pitifully weak soyboys.

Now, anti-gun rights person, please tell me how many people you've defended and saved the lives of, with your bare hands, let alone a firearm.

I'll add one more reason why people own firearms:
People living in rural areas need to protect their families and livestock from predators. Depending on where they live, predators can be coyotes, bobcats, bears, or wolves. Animals we don't care to fight using a knife.

Ok, a few things: while I like guns myself and would like to own some, I challenge your logic.

1 and 2, unless you know you are going to be attacked and are combat trained (not just at the shooting range), having a gun will escalate the situation. Don't reach for your gun if you have one pointed at your head.

3. I lived in the hood and having a gun (legal or not) makes you a combatant and essentially a target.

4. Big and strong people are susceptible to knives and bats as well.

5. I'm good with that.

6. So? They have guns so you don't need one. Again, military personnel are combatants, not just dudes with guns. If you think you can go 1v1 with them, hahahahaha!!

7. That's just racist and short-sighted. What about J6? I wish I had gun for that. Those cunts did more damage than any BLM movement in ONE go.

Nah. It's not worth bothering. These are all just opinions, not actual arguments, and it's pointless to try to debate someone's opinions with opinions. But mainly, I lost all respect for this post as soon as you called criticizing BLM "racist." I agree with the second amendment and appreciate we have the right to bear arms.

The thing I have a problem with are idiots. We have some of the dumbest human beings existing in the entire world here in this country.

A well regulated militia... Ok so what if a bunch of idiots mistakenly think our rights are being taken away, like say, a presidential election and want to hang the VP because he won't overturn it, even though he can't, and we'll you get the rest, we all watched the capital riot. You could say well that's why everyone needs guns and I honestly don't know how to prove if that's a good or bad idea.

I think I just wish legit crazy people or felons didn't have the ability to so easily get them and shoot school up or supermarkets etc. Making it a process to own a gun with safety in mind is not losing your right to bear arms. Also many know someone, a friend or family member that you've had a discussion with and your like, this person should not own a gun. I had a person like this and they killed themselves.

Unfortunately things are made too black and white. You can be for the second amendment but have some checks and balances added to it to make everyone safer. Safer is the whole point of the second amendment so I don't know why people think they're safer with anyone easily having access to a lethal weapon.

Lastly just like you wouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight, I think we're under a delusion that citizens armed with guns really have a chance against a government with nukes. In a person's worst nightmare of having to organize an actual militia against an actual tyrannical super power the citizens still have no chance. So in reality yeah it's good we have the second amendment but there's definitely a middle ground where you can still own a gun even a machine gun but have it be vetted to prevent insanity.

Two words: Guerrilla warfare.

You don't need to take on the entire might of the military (not that 99% of the military would turn against their own people; unless they all became woke radicals, like they're currently trying to fill the military with), you only need to cut off the snake at the head. Politicians don't have security around them 24/7, and security can also easily be compromised.

Not to mention, the US couldn't defeat a bunch of cave-dwelling homeless terrorists in Afghanistan over two decades. The US would have to turn into North Korea overnight before those in power would be immune to an armed resistance. Especially with as many Second Amendment Sanctuary states there are.

I'm guessing you don't own a gun.

Lastly, 95% of humanity are idiots, in my opinion. I live in South Korea; they're barely smarter than Americans. Americans are just louder, while Koreans are just just slightly more intelligent to keep quiet about how little they know. And once you've talked to enough people online, from around the world, you realize that no, "some of the dumbest human beings existing" aren't just limited to the United States. If anything, China is WAY dumber than the US.

I do not own a gun but have shot all kinds of hand guns and assault rifles in a range to familiarize myself. I'm not a gun nut though so I forget what I shot. Well that's definitely an opinion on guerilla warfare. I don't think most people live their lives prepping for that and if you do you probably need mental health checks to see if you're ok. Some people are down with doomsday prepping for all sorts of things and can't say it's useless but unlikely they'll need to be ready to fight the US government. I think average citizens are more in danger from crazy neighbors that believe conspiracies and need to shoot first and ask questions later.

Also, I can't prove you wrong but hopefully we can start getting less violent so that this isn't how we treat each other as humans and two don't have to even think like your suggestions. I know that's not the world we live in but it should be the world we live in.

It is the great equalizer to defend ones self, doesn't matter if a guy is 250 pounds and 6 and a half feet, and police are usually an hour away in rural America so liberals would have me ask the bad person to wait patiently until the police get here.

I own a Glock 48 9mm, Walther PPK/S.380, and a 12gauge browning citori trap grade over under. Someday I reaaaally want to get an ar15. Most of the arguments can be debunked by one simple fact. Guns don't win every fight.

There are certain martial arts, and foreign ethnic military training styles, which means someone trained in such could kill you before you ever registered the threat.
