Why Killing Humans Is Wrong

I started a thread on this forum to challenge the community to be able to reflect and argume over a moral many see as obvious; Killing humans is wrong. The majority of us are agreeing in that killing humans is wrong, but killing animals isn't wrong for food. We also discussed why killing humans for food is wrong. In the thread I took the role as a challenger, but in this MyTake I'm going to share my opinion on this subject and I thought writing it as an update would be too little space for my argument.

1.) Human's intelligence

Humans have the ability to reasoning, question our existence, ethics and have consciousness.

Humans as a specie have a different type of intelligence. We're able to reasoning, philosophy, questioning our existence and discuss ethics. We're able to think over life and death in a way more complicated way than other species and we're more conscious about diverse things in life. Instincts don't control us as much as other species and usually we can control our self. Humans gets worse emotions if they knows they're going to die and other animals species don't think so much over death as long they gets a pain free death. Therefor for many of us killing an animal for food is acceptable, but killing a human is wrong because their emotions can get even more hurt than an animal's. Animal meat is also easy available in some circumstances and it gives us nutrition which is the reason we eats it and not everybody are vegans.

2) Respect toward family and friends

People likes being around a person they loves and do things together with them. It can be a family member, friend or a partner.

Killing a person wouldn't only affect themselves, but also people who loves them like family and friends. Humans likes being around people they loves and cares about, but if the person dies they lose that opportunity. Death is permanent and relatives wouldn't get the opportunity to meet the person anymore. They can't talk, hang out or do anything anymore. A murder is a permanent thief; they steals someones family member or friend. That's hurting people's feeling. So if you're not hurting a not so intelligent human's feeling because they dies, relatives can still get hurt.

For many of us being valued is important and the majority dislikes being objectified. People wants to be seen as a valued human being.

It's also wrong for many of us to kill a human being for food. Both because of the person's consciousness and because of the relatives. It's harsh enough for a family to lose a child, sibling, cousin etc. But if a person eats their relative it would be interpreted as the person lose their value as a person for many. Treating a dead human as food is objectifying them. The eater don't care about their personality, ambitions, reasoning or what making them a person; but treat them as a worthless object they can do what they wants to do with it. Eating and killing humans isn't seen as wrong or gross without a reason.

For animals it's a bit different depending from species to species. Some animals have the ability to feel grief like certain packs, but other animals don't feel grief if some from their own species dies. Not all animals have the ability to be aware some other animals are death because humans slaughter them for food. Animals can kill each other for food without getting a bad feeling too.

3) The freedom of experiencing

Many people likes experiencing new things and therefor some are traveling. Many also have ambitions they wants to achieve before they dies.

Many humans thinks freedom is important to live a happy life. People likes to decide by themselves and do what they wants to do in life. People have ambitions. If a murder kills a person, the murder steals the person's opportunity for new experiences and achieving goals. If the murder don't ask the person's permission to kill them they're not respecting their freedom and making false evidence that you got the person's permission is not impossible, so it's not sure you would be able to escape the consequences anyway if you gets suspected enough. We don't know what happens after death or if any deities exists or not. It's a possibility the person needed the experience from earth to do it well after death. Who knows?

If someone gets killed by someone else it's someones fault. However, some accidents and diseases isn't someones fault. So nobody can control that. If the person wanted to die they could take it in their own hands and kill themselves. So if a person is still alive it's most likely because they don't want to die and therefor murdering is wrong.

well duh, the only time killing someone would be okay is if its self defense and someone is trying to harm you. But i would do my best to injure or at least get away from the person before resulting to such life threatening tactics.

Well to be fair many people don't question why killing humans is considered wrong, they just agree with it and if asked why killing animals isn't wrong when killing humans is, they'll go for the most obvious answer, animals are food and humans aren't. That would be my guess why.

I'm not a favor of death penalty.

- If the government kills someone they sinks at the same level as the murder and killing someone for killing don't give a good message. If killing is wrong, why would the government do that too?

- People can get wrongfully convicted and innocent people gets executed. Mistakes occurs sometimes.

I thinks murders, rapists, pedophiles etc. can sit in prison rest of their life.

Do you think killing a serial killer is that wrong? By killing a serial killer you avoid him to kill another tons of humans. i think in the end it's worth it.

Only doing it when 100 % sure the person is guilty.

Personally I don't want to pay for them. Why should I give my money for them?

I thinks the government is sending a bad message then. The moral is not to kill, but the government kills they who disobeys the law. What a irony.

The message they're sending by doing nothing is that they doesn't care about their people.
To my opinion at least.
I don't think killing is bad if it's doing in the ways to protect others.

By your opnion war are bad then? In war we kill people who are threat to us. like killing a serial killer (it's a threat for the people).
For me it's the same.

It's easier to imprisoning a few people in lifetime than imprisoning an army on several thousands of soldiers. I'm not a favor of war at all and the best things is peace around the whole world. But the humanity is so egoistical, blood lusty and mean, so war is difficult, if not impossible to avoid.

I think if you do not kill a serial killer you're partner in crime with him. Killing is wrong but does killing someone and saving a lot of other people is that wrong?
Plus talking about good or bad sign government are giving we can't say that the government are giving good sign nowadays.

HAHA you're all wrong. Killing humans isn't wrong. There is no such thing as right or wrong you monkeys.
Morality is just the fabric that keeps society together. I don't want to be killed either so I say that killing is wrong. Thus we agree that nobody gets to kill me and I don't get to kill anyone else ensuring all of our safety.
The act itself is not right or wrong. Would you kill 2 people if it meant saving yourself? Don't lie to yourself you know you would.

Some people deserve to live, some don't, we can make the world a better place for good people by killing all the bad people. Poor people can't afford to feed themselves and have to use food banks because their wages en't kept place with inflation, we should kill all employers, all businesses should be run as workers' cooperatives so no worker is exploited.

Humans are a type of virus that extract every resource from the environment and use it up, without a harmonic equilibrium unlike other animals.

Then they move to better area and repeat the process until all resources are used up.

Well killing in general is bad but it's a natural part of life whether your human or animal and that's just something everyone will have to deal with.

Some people simply don't care or have a different moral. Moral is subjective and this is my subjective opinion on it.
