@madhatters4 There are two reasons for the split: one verify that the children are not part of the human traffickers and two the parents have committed a crime.
so you are acknowledging that this is a new policy. that's a first. but you can keep the families together in detention while you decide the next step. there is nothing preventing investigations regarding human trafficking OR dealing with the illegality of their presence while keeping families detained together.
That is not true. The trump's policy is to separate the families as a deterrent. I don't know why people are not getting the proper information on this issue.
Unaccompanied minors are not toddlers begging for someone to call their mother or father.

Right, so stop talking about sources of information. The administration itself has been caught in hundreds of lies. The fact is the policy is to separate families who try to cross the border. And it does not matter if they are criminals or not. They are being denied the ability to ask for asylum at the border, they go back find a trafficker and cross illegally and then they are separated from their children.
Stop doing that. I don't even understand how this is a conversation. Babies, toddlers are being taken from their parents. Parents who are asking for asylum.
Their paper would should be filed, process and if denied, send them back.
